Jimenez will probably be gone next year and who knows what you'll get from either Masterson or Carrasco.
I'll call it a win for Cleveland...but there has to be something about Bauer unless it's proved otherwise
I guess kind of like the way there had to have been something wrong with Gio Gonzalez that caused him to be traded like 3 times before he even made the big leagues.
Another way of looking at things is that maybe the the D-Backs had a lot of pitching depth and the Indians were in love with Bauer that there wasn't going to be a deal done without him.
What the hell is Arizona doing? Of the three it better be Corbin.
I'd just like to say.............
:r ant:
Knowing the luck we have around here with prospect development, Gregorius will end up a platoon man and Bauer a Cy Young contender. I really don't understand the team not holding on to these young arms, remember they just traded Parker too. The only type of talent this team has proven it can develop are PITCHERS. So instead of holding on to our pitchers till they pan out and trading them for established position players later, they trade them all away so its mediocrity all around.
Are there any actual concrete rumours about Bauer's makeup issues? I just checked my 2012 Baseball America handbook and it doesn't mention any character issues and even repeatedly compliments his work ethic. Obviously though he did something to piss someone in the D'backs org off though.

Gio Gonzales is a good pitcher..but he is not exactly an ace or #2 type guy either

Its way more than rumors, but its not so much a work ethic thing as it is a stubbornness/set in his ways thing. He didn't get along with Miguel Montero, though they supposedly patched that up. He did not alter his crazy pre-game routine for the big leagues.
If the Diamondbacks organization can't work with him and overcome those two issues based on the potential reward of Bauers talent, they should just fold up shop.

Prospects are hard to predict, but Carlos Gonzalez and Anderson are very good ball players. Carter is solid for an AL team with his power, not so much in the NL since he sucks in the field.
1) I really like this trade for the Reds. They add Shin-Soo Choo to their OF for next season and his hitting should be a major upgrade over Stubbs. Then Billy Hamilton should be able to take over CF & the leadoff spot for the future from 2014 on.
2) I cannnot understand this trade from the Diamondbacks perspective. They should have gotten way more for Bauer.
3) If the Royals were sour on Wil Myers as he had some vague "make up" issues and they needed a potential ace pitcher & the Diamondbacks were sour on Trevor Bauer as he had some vague "make up" issues - why did they not make a straight up trade of Myers for Bauer - that would seem to make better sense for both of those teams than the trades that they did make.
