What about Langhamer as third stringer? Get him used to the environment for next year when he has a shot at being starter.
Langhamer has not been very impressive in Med Hat this year. In the one game I saw him start he got pulled before the end of the first giving up 4 goals on 13 shots. I think overlooking him is probably the right choice this year.
Imo CZE are overrated on this forum - yes we have nice TOP6, but bad defence (only Musil have enough quality imo)
I don't think they are overrated. Sure the defence isn't very good but it's still better then last year.. And they still did well. Everything's better this year except for goaltending. And even the goaltending will be good with bartosak being the chl goalie of the month. This team should make some noise this year.
The corruption and the politics saddens me, and I am saying this as a outsider looking in for most of the past 25 years now. I remember when I used to be proud to be Czech but every time I read anything from there I cant help but feel embarrassed. I really wish the country turned things around.
I was hoping to see a competitive team this year, showing of the best players the country has to offer but once again greed and money came in to play. And once again I have lost that little bit of desire to cheer the team on and that little bit of Czech that is left in me and that im trying to hold on to dies once again.
For those here who are involved out there in hockey circles, do something about this, make some personal sacrifices and change things for the next generation. Make the people that are the problem, be it in politics, other organizations or hockey pay, take them out even if it means sacrificing your career out there, do the right thing.
And when I speak I am not basing this on the selection of this team, this is just another little reminder of the massive social problems that are plaguing that country.
I agree with the fact that corruption is a big problem in Czech hockey and - well - society overall. What I dont agree with and frankly dont understand is not cheering for a bunch of 20 year olds playing for their country because there is corruption in the Czech hockey system. IMO rooting for your country´s national team does not strike me as something you switch on or off . You cheer or you dont. Simple as that
Does anyone know where i could watch the czech games? Cause tsn isnt showing ANY of them which is very disappointing. So maybe some other channels or internet sites? Really dont want to miss any games this year..
i know last year i streamed almost all the games on fasthockey.com. not the best quality but it is better than nothin
Yeah, they even streamed it for free last year. They have a lot of coverage in general, so I'm thinking they'll have the games this year, as well, but normally you have to pay for the games, and I'm not sure they make an exception for the World Juniors. I think last year was an exception, but we'll see. Hopefully not.

last year they were all free. this year i watched the Team Canada selection camp scrimmages for free so i would assume they are making the real WJC free as well

Czech TV is showing all of the czech games and streaming it, but there is always problem with non-czech IP, which is shame
Thanks for the replies guys! I will definitely check that site out. I was wondering too if they might show them on the NHL network. Since there is a lockout.

Czech republic is not "my" country and I have not lived there for 25 years now. I am close to the country and find my self there rather often, but I don't feel any bond to the people nor do I consider my self Czech in the sense you may think. But like I said I still care about the country, its still has a relevance to me and I want to see it do well. But as far as cheering for Czech sports teams goes its not a necessity for obvious reasons, although I would like to. Anyways there is another country that I am much more a part of and is a part of me and obviously I cheer for that team.
But the point is that this sort of blatant "corruption" that ignores the bigger picture and the damage it does pushes me away even further and makes me embarrassed to be born there, and that saddens me and I wish it changed. And this is corruption plain and simple, and its not this lone event that makes me say these things, the problem is that this is rampant through out Czech society, and through out the generations, young and old.
Anyways they do have some good players this year and regardless if I watch them or not, I wish the players the best of luck.
In regards to the coverage of this tournament, TSN is showing basically all games from the Canada/US/Russia/Germany/Slovakia side of the draw and the NHL Network is just going to use the TSN feeds which means the other division isn't going to get TV coverage in North America, at least. I also checked the FastHockey schedule and they don't have the WJC but do carry the Word U17 Challenge games. Looks like we're going to be searching for some streams.
