He isn't wrong. This lockout will likely hurt some of these markets short term at the very least. Particular with a team like the Panthers, how does a shortened or no season affect their momentum? Should be interesting to see how it all works out.
I really think the only places truly safe from the fallout will be a handful of U.S. teams and the Canadian based ones.
Det, D.C., Anaheim.... (teams perceived to be on a down swing), all the southern based teams, teams that stink from the jump, either this 'season' or next. I think the owners are in for a rough go of it.
Bugger, I'm so tired of hearing this from the pro players side....they were locked cos they wouldn't negotiate til the last minute and Fehr's past was the reason the leaugue didn't play under the current CBA
The same thing happened in the NBA and they started earlier, didn't have Fehr, ended up with a worse deal and were locked out 'til the very end. Why?
Am I the only one who feels dumb for still following this mess?
It's a game we can't watch.
We don't get to see how a game plan if made for an actual hockey game, but we get to watch it being implemented on the ice. We see who was in the wrong place, who made a bad pass, who took a chance that paid off, etc.
Right now, we get to see nothing. All we get is the press conference after the fact. Who would follow the NHL if they played the game, we didn't get to see it, but we got to see the players and coaches talking to the camera about hard work and getting to the net after the game?
All this mess is, is two sides with enough money to burn, that they can afford to try and prove a point to each other. Any fan following this mess just cares about the league, and wanting to get the escape back for a few hours a night. Maybe that's why we're dumb.
