Grimaldi named WCHA Rookie of the Week for his 4-point weekend. I would expect he will get a few more of these weekly awards before the season is over.

Right now, the offense is Hubie creates something, and someone else benefits. Look at his assist in the Halifax game for example. Hubie goes 1 on 1, shoots the puck at the side opposite of which he takes the two players and a goal happens. He could easily be the league leader in scoring if his linemates were capitalizing on the chances they are getting (they've missed a ton of empty nets). And that's without adding real top liners. Wait until he gets traded and gets good linemates.
Your watching him so I definitely respect your opinion. Hopefully this different experience compared to the last few years will give him some kind of benefit.

Aside from Pavel, have we ever had a player with hands like Huberdeau's? Maybe Kozlov. Its too bad that guys like Kozlov and Bure arent playing now when the SO is so important, because I can guarantee that we would have had MUCH more success in them.

Wow . Is this kid good or is this kid good?!! Can't wait to see him in a Panther red jersey. Those red jerseys... are not good.

I remember at one time hearing Kozlov was the best stickhandler in the whole NHL! League-wide poll or something. He had some smooth hands.

Prospect Watch

Watching Corban Knight through the years, I can't believe how underrated he is (although that isn't really a big deal). I would put him just behind Huberdeau and just ahead of Bjugstad at this point. Corban's high-level complete game makes him such a solid prospect. Haven't been able to follow SA much, but appears as though Shore is continuing to improve, so he could be considered when talking to prospects that look like they will translate well into the pros. Corey Pronman had the right idea ranking him 4th in preseason, and 69th here in his top 100 prospects. http://www.hockeyprospectus.com/arti...articleid=1381

Agree on Knight being horribly underrated. Bjugstad's ceiling is obviously much higher than Knight's, but if I had to put money on it, I would say Knight will have a very long NHL career. He is the perfect 3rd line center. Good skill, but his best attributes are his hockey sense, tenacity, and defensive abilities. He is one of the best faceoff men out there, it is a rare feat to see Knight be under 60% on draws in a game.

Knight with 1g, 1a tonight for a 6-point weekend. He is 3 points off the national lead. North Dakota is heating up, look for Knight to continue putting up big numbers.

I'm excited to see what Knight can do in the AHL next season. Him & Trocheck should be fun to keep an eye on.

Did anyone have any further information on Joonas Donskoi? IIRC, he re-entered the draft and we lost his rights. Is that correct?

Yes that is correct. He's not one of our prospects anymore.

Yes, we no longer own his rights. He hasn't really progressed in the last two years. Not enough high end skills to mask his other flaws.

He'll be a solid European league player.

Excluding Huberdeau, who was a #3 overall pick anyway, i've always been more impressed by our college draft picks than our CHL draft picks.

He's currently assigned to the ECHL affiliate Cincinnati Cyclones but I think I read he's injured right now and not playing, could be wrong about that part though.

You are correct. Wilson is on the IR with a hand injury.

Thought I'd drop some info about our Swedish draftee Jonatan Nielsen (194th overall in 2012).

He recently got loaned out to Södertälje SK (They play in "Allsvenskan", the tier below SEL) from Linköping and it seems like he's found his place pretty well. In 12 games he's been a solid contribution for the team and has managed 5 points so far. He's received quite some praise.

Think we'll be seeing him in the SEL next year. Wouldn't be too surprised if we see him in a Panthers jersey in a few years.

Thanks for the info, it seems like we have a lot of prospects who should make it in the NHL, but I'm curious as to where they will end up. It looks like we have a boatload of third and fourth line guys.
Who do we have with top line potential though? Huberdeau and maybe Grimaldi? Where do you think Bjugstad fits in? Shore, Knight and Trocheck I hope will make nice second liners...
Then we have Rau, Howden, etc.
One thing is for sure, we won't be short on depth.

I've been watching Huberdeau play in the pre-tournament game against Sweden, and one thing he needs to work on, is his defense. All he does for the most part in the defensive zone is coast around. He doesn't seem to be into it when the puck is in the defensive zone. That's one thing I noticed while watching this game. It's on the to-do list.

Anyone get a chance to see how Grimaldi and Trocheck looked today vs Finland?

I saw like a little less than half the game. So I didn't get to see much of either one of them. I think they still have to get used to playing with their teammates on team USA. The whole team seemed to be trying to figure out how to play with each other. That's probably why they were not at their best.

I just wanted to stop by and say you guys have a good one with Rasmus Bengtsson for Sweden. He's really get a big opportunity with a lot of the known commodities out (Brodin, Klefbom, etc.) and he's displaying a very solid, mistake free game with flashes of PMD ability. Really impressed me today against Canada. Not sure why he's having so much trouble in the USHL relatively speaking.
