I don't think that's what it's about. It's about the contract you'll have to give him.
Boras is his agent and he's going command something ridiculous. I'm not sure the Yankees want to give him a crazy contract.
Keep in mind, he's already 30.
still they have to keep him. i still think he could even get better in the next few years.
I want nothing to do with Cano and 10 yr contract. Way too much commitment for any 30 yr old player. He is easily the best 2nd baseman in the world, but A-Rod was easily the best player in the world when he signed his extension.
well if they dont plan on making any big signings in the near future then they better hope that they have some good prospects coming up or else their going to be going downhill for the next few years. the orioles, jays, red sox, and rays are all going to be pretty tough. they all seem to have better outlook for the future than the yankees do to be honest.
The difference is that when the Yankees spend, they make the ****ing playoffs.
Look at what Boston did two years ago and again this year. The Angels recently. The Dodgers. The Mets.
Who cares how much money you spend when you give your fans a winning product. People who complain about payroll just use it as an excuse as to why their team sucks hot turds through a straw.
not gonna lie....always been a Youklis fan....just cant stand anyone on the Sox so i hated his guts for his uniform...as a player, really like watching him hit.
Of all the players they wouldn't give multi-year contracts to, to then give one to Ichiro?
He's 394 hits away from 2,000. Better make it a 3 year deal then....
I would be okay with Ichiro for (2) years. Guy is in phenomenal shape and has never hit for power. Guys who hit for average are better as they get older (see Jeter over ARod).
I really hope the Mets trade Dickey. I love him and wish he could retire a Met, but the organization needs players that are going to help them in two years. If they could get D'Arnaud, Jackie Bradley or Olt (plus another good prospect), the future would look even brighter.

TRADE GRANDERSON!
Ichiro's average is largely dependent on his speed, however. He may be in great shape, but he's slowing down and will continue to slow down. And he doesn't walk to offset that.
I think our argument re: Granderson has run its course.
