I was so ticked off when Smith Pelley got hurt. He was hitting everybody in his path, sorta reminded me of Della Rovere, I was pumped then the guy gets hurt I was so mad. Can't wait to see Wilson and Ritchie start the first shift of the game for Canada on Boxing day and get the players into it and crush some guys right off the start.

Brett Ritchie must be pumped to be scratched

Also, all 4 goalies will play. Two for Canada, two for CIS
So what do people think today's lineup with shakedown too?

8 defensman:

Wotherspoon-Sproul

Forwards?:

Is Ouellet going to be good to go, or will it be a last minute decision?

Hard to say. I guess they must like him a lot if he's getting in without playing at the camp. It's just an ankle injury so he should definitely be fine in time for the tournament.

Basically they have to split druin and mackinnon up. They need too see how they play without each other.

not sure if posted but..

@GMillerTSN: Morgan Rielly also not playing this afternoon.

@GMillerTSN: ...Harrington and Ouellet. This is a rare time when you want to be a healthy scratch: means you're almost certainly on the team.

Except we've seen how the infamous 'high ankle sprain' can limit a players ability to push and pivot - I read somewhere, Ouelette said he was able to push 100% yesterday, so he must be a lock.

I hope this doesn't come back to bite them.

There's a TSN feature on the TSN main website breaking down the game last night, focusing on guys on the bubble.

Ray Ferraro focused in on Frankie Corrado, saying he played a game team Canada brass really love. Was composed, made the smart efficient play, scored a goal, and wasn't running around the d zone trying to look for a play that wasn't there

Thatta boy Frankie, always understated! Can't believe we drafted this guy for a mere 5th rounder.

What round did you draft him in?

Considering the comments Steve Spott made after the game regarding Ritchie (and the fact he's a scratch), I think he makes the team for sure.

I think everyone pretty much agreed that Ritchie was the best (or at least the most noticeable) skater last night — from Spott to every TSN analyst to almost every fan. Really went out there and earned himself a spot.

Reilly, Harrington, Hamilton and Quellet are the top four.

Murphy, Corrado and Reinhart will be the other three, IMO. Dumba could possibly sneak in and take Corrado's spot.

They benched a lot of players today; I certainly didn't expect Ritchie to be a lock, but I was wrong.

Malcolm Subban will be the key to success this year.

Its absolutely unbelievable how good at hockey this kid is. Belleville is 18-9-3 this year, which is good for first place in their division. This is where the whacky part comes in. Malcolm’s brother Jordon (a 5'9 2013 draft eligible defenseman) is leading the team in scoring with 6g 16a and 22p in 31 GP. The team ranks DEAD LAST in goals for with 80. However the team is #1 in the league in goals against at 75. They are a mere +5 in the goals for department, however have managed to be a +9 in the wins department. This is in large part is thankful to a fantastic goaltender that performs unbelievably well under pressure..

This kid is the steal of the 2012 draft.

I don't see both Murphy and Dumba making it. I think one of them will but not both. They both had a bad game last night. Spott (or maybe it was one of the other coaches) also had some pretty negative comments about Dumba's season before the tournament started. It's not that they're the exact same player (not at all), but they do make similar mistakes defensively. Sproul is the guy that IMO has a chance to make it.

I was wondering if that was the official lineup...tsn mark master said as much, at least I was close

Yeah I think his performance last night, plus his size and chemistry with Strome probably has him on the inside track. Not much of a surprise either way... the debate wasn't so much would he make the team as to would he play a scoring or checking role.

From what I see... after those top 4... favourites look like Reinhart and Murphy. Seems like right now they've got a bit of an insite track.

I think Dumba and Corrado are close behind... with everyone else as a darkhorse.

I read through all the posts from the past couple of days, but can't seem to find much information on Frank Corrado. Does anybody know how he's looked so far?

It's going to be so nice to see non-entitled kids play their hearts out for nothing more than national pride.

According to the TSN WJ Panel after last night's red-white game... Corrado's game has brought him into consideration for one of the last 3 spots available on the blueline. Spott and co. liked his game, in particular his physicality. I think he's got an advantage over Dumba and Murphy in that this team has alot of offensively gifted blueliners and he might be able to play a more defensive role.

The way it looks like for Dmen Right now:

Locks: Hamilton, Rielly, Harrington, Ouelett

In the Hunt: Reinhart, Dumba, Murphy, Corrado

Darkhoses: Everyone else.

I think there's been one or two Canucks fans commenting on him. You should probably look harder.

Ouellet is has been skating and said he can push off 100% now, so he'll be good to go and I'm sure they're just being cautious with him which I like as a Red Wings fan. I'm hoping Sproul can play a great game and earn his spot on the team, he deserves it I think.
