Yes, I do live in Edmonton.

I earned my degree at the U of A.

I currently live Downtown.

I grew up North of Edmonton.

I travel up toward Peace River every two weeks.

Nice try though.

That was then, this is now. Trust me, it's the arena design issues of the Saddledome.

Fair enough, but i agree with Bryan that i see enough of those diesel pigs he mentions. Usually they belong to someone in the city which baffles me. There's nothing worse than a man with large truck/small **** problem...and we seem to have our fair share.

Edit - I should also mention that I agree with you on Gibbons - the park and ride works just fine thanks.

Back to revenue projections...Katz Group says they'll put them in front of a qualified 3rd party for examination if City does same w/ theirs

I have a 1 ton diesel and I live in Edmonton. But I prefer to use the LRT to get to games.

This is fair, and the city should take it. I also like the idea of using the CRL to help pay for the upkeep and maintenance.

Of course there are a few, but Gibbons was talking nonsense. Some Councillors who are in Northlands' back pocket are upset. They thought Katz was done. It was time to renovate Rexall!

I count 5 new towers, with one mid-rise tucked away:

I am not naive to believe we will see all 5 built simultaneously, but I do hope for at least two.

Okay, I was under the impression that this was the primary stumbling block. Why is Mandel talking like he doesn't want to proceed with the negotiations?

So the big cahoot about the subsidy is now removed, and Mandel still doesn't want to negotiate/still negative? Isn't this the guy who was telling Edmonton how awesome an arena would be not 4 months ago? The biggest proponent in City Council? Why this sudden interest in posturing?

Likely stemming from self-interest and self-preservation. I highly doubt he has decided to go on some righteous crusade for the betterment of the average citizen. Isn't there an election coming up?

Heck, the vast majority of farmers don't even own Diesels unless you are talking about tandem grain trucks.

Farmers burn purple gas.

Gibbons is being facetious.
Lol, farmers can burn dyed diesel too. And most that have cattle do have diesels to pull trailers.

Man oh man, I still don't like that oil drop design.

Edmonton needs a new arena for sure, but why does it have to look like that?

I don't know that is removed as much as it's been moved.

The request for subsidy is still there, its just offset by using CRL instead, and only if tax revenue exceed what was expected from it.

Worded like this I could agree. That wasn't the point being made. I was responding to a notion that bands would opt for Calgary instead of Edmonton.

If Calgary gets an appropriate arena the greater likelihood is every act playing two clost together locations and Edmonton and Calgary possibly offering greater drawing power combined.

Its not necessarily an either/or condition. ESPECIALLY when the concert and music industry is starving for dollars and happy to find any place to find em.

When Paul McCartney, RHCP, Roger Walters, Metallica, are all suddenly playing two shows here you know things are bad worldwide.

We're suddenly getting the NY/LA stops lol.

I'm not sure what fictitious Edmonton you live in. Downtown? Glenora? Get out a bit. Edmonton and area is a pickup truck mecca.

So it looks like Katz has not learnt a thing & hs up to his old tricks;

"During the meeting Wednesday morning, The Katz Group withdrew its late request for a $6 million annual operating subsidy, asking to restart negotiations based on the original framework.

Instead Karvellas suggested the city set up a fund from new tax money from development around the arena "which would be made available to draw on to maintain, repair improve and enhance the arena and its operations"

What a joke. Thats 2 sides of the same coin. Its still City money & not his that he is obligesd to pay. He just wants some of the City tax money segregated & comitted for that which he is obliged to pay for himself.
The guy thinks everyone is stupid , & man, is he untrustworthy.

Does Farbrother ever bring and real answers to the table? The guy never gives a straight answer.

Yet people are made when Katz can't give a straight answer.
