I don't want to get political on this site but having Tom Thomas and Brian Burke in the same room could be toxic.Tim is social conservative and Brian is a liberal and both are very outspoken on social issues.
If this season is lost is Thomas a Free agent? If he is, perhaps we could simply sign him than. He could be a great mentor for Reimer. Plus he'd be in Canada so no more schnanigans with American politics

Burke is a character first kind of guy. I really don't think there's interest in Thomas, he's not going to touch that lightning rod. He is a bad fit for the Toronto Maple Leafs. There's a lot more to acquiring a player than his stats.

I guess I just disagree. I think Burke would welcome a fellow American (as it seems to be his thing anyways) It would be the perfect fit as we'd only have to sign him for 1 to 2 years, wouldn't have to give up any assets and it gives Reimer some more time to develop his game.
The more and more I think about it, the more excited I get.
Guessing if he still wants to play Toronto can sign him as a UFA. Doesn't seem like he's to happy with the US government and Canada is the only other option.

I think it is up to the Bruins. Thomas owes them a year but they can also count this year if they want and let him go to UFA. That seems to be likely since under the last CBA they would have a cap hit of $5 million for next year along with this year if they suspended him. My money is on them letting him go to UFA after this season unless the next CBA doesn't count 35+ contracts against the cap if the player decides to take a year off like Thomas has said he is doing.
Luongo is a consumate professional and teammate. Thomas is a self centered ******.
Luongo is a hot house flower who wilted when faced with the biggest games of his career. Thomas carried an inferior team on his back and won a title. Who was the better teammate? The guy who won and took all the pressure or the guy who whined, folded, complained and wanted his tires pumped?
