Hockey Canada has been watching these players for years. Under 17's, 18's, OHL games, camp during the summer. They don't base it on 2 days. They are trying to put together a group of players that can play roles, and come together as quick as possible. They also want consistency. Not all flash!
There's a reason you can't base your opinions off these games only. A few of the players who sat today (Thus locks) didn't have good games yesterday.
That's a good thing for Murphy, because if he makes the team I feel it will be based more on reputation than what he has shown thus far. Those 4 D sitting are locks. There are only 3 spots left. There are questions when it comes to Murphy. Do you trust him to take a regular shift on the third pairing? Does this team actually need a PP specialist given some of the other selections? Would TC feel comfortable playing Murphy even more minutes if one of the top 4 gets injured?
I've always liked high risk/high reward defenseman. That's how I like to play myself. However, if his pros do not outweigh his cons, it isn't worth it to risk him being on the team.

Even better considering Spott thinks he is worth the risk and is probably his most vocal supporter.
So Beauvillier gets invited, everybody writes him off.
He plays well, and everyone still writes him off cause there is ''too much competition''?
Why would the Canada brass invite him if they know they are going to cut him right away even after a strong performance? It doesn't make sense.
If they invited him, and he impressed, he'll at least survive the first set of cuts.
Because no one has really stood out in good or bad ways.
To me the most out of place forward is Wilson, but people still want him around for physicality. Also it doesnt help that the guys who have played well Graovac and Ritchie are competing for similar spots as him
It'll be a joke if Murphy makes it. He's having a bad season for an offensive guy and he had an even worse camp for an offensive guy. The only way he makes it is if Spott sticks out his neck to defend his star.
From what I saw, I don't really have an opinion on who else makes it. but Murphy absolutely shouldn't.
MacKinnon has played way better than most forwards and he's earned a spot in the top 6 IMO. Drouin was making plays whenever he was on the ice. His vision and his ability to protect the puck is top notch. Perfect 13th forward.
Top 4 D is pretty concrete, leaving 3 spots up for grabs. Reinhart's ability to retrive the puck and get it out of the zone will be helpful, same with Corrado's skating ability. Murphy has looked average at best even paired with Griffin but he might get the #7 spot since Spott is his OHL coach and for PP reasons. Hoping Wotherspoon makes it because he's played better than Murphy and he can actually defend.
Goaltending is really hard to decide because both Brossoit and Patterson have been good, plus Subban

People who say incorrect things generally shouldn't talk.
Murphy's scoring % on Kitchener's goals is similar to Dougie's, who has 20 more points. You tell me what this means. I could but you might not like it.

Pretty much how I see it, though I'm torn between Graovac and Camara, perhaps Graovac gets a slight edge he's great on the PK and can sustain offensive pressure but I feel we need a Camara type on the team. Very hard decisions.
