It was a small sample size, I know.

I didn't care that much to count any longer.

Wish I could see out my window, stupid windowless office on the inside part of the building.

I know for a fact that a majority of traffic will be semi trailers and trucks simply because its an industrial area.

I look out over the Leg grounds onto 109th street.

BTW: That's as close as your getting to my address, Replacement.

I tire of such stereotypes. Just like the one where if I have spent time living in Northern Alberta, then I think there are very few pickups on the road because of course that means I'm a yokel who has never really gone or lived anywhere else.
So, they shouldn't be concerned about parking for big diesel trucks?

Thanks for that, JS.
I can't fathom that anyone who lives in this city can't see there is a significant number of pick-up trucks on Edmonton roads.

Yep - the point i was trying to make. Simply looking out your window and counting the vehicles and then saying that this proves your point is...well pointless.

It had nothing to do with the small sample size Phoenixx, but nice try. The funniest part is that i work in the same area as you.

One of the tweets from Paula Simmons made me think they weren't even off, just they were very minimal.

They will never get an arena built if they spend this much time diddling over trucks.

Oh c'mon.

Do you really believe that this was Gibbons' motivation? That he is now the champion of Northern Albertans' who drive Diesels?

Really?

Nothing is pointless. It may be near-pointless.

And who said anything about work?

What about gasoline 3/4 ton trucks are they still allowed to drive downtown? Or do they have to stay on Gretzky and 118 ave?

Well, Mandel sounds a little more positive.

Council passed 5 new points regarding arena deal. It was voted 11-2 in favour. Diotte and Sloan opposed it.

Jason Gregor ‏@JasonGregor
One of the points include finding an independant evaluator who will look into Katz Group finances re: hockey. Interesting.

Well, Northern Albertans don't have garages so they can park outside at Oliver square on game nights. Or any one of the parkades in the area.

They won't mind the cold and it's not that far.

I think Mandel is playing more of the "bad cop" routine this time because he was probably a little embarrassed by being hung out to dry last time.

He still wants this project to go forward very much so IMO.

Not much discussion on the actual look of the arena from the new renderings -- sorry, what's changed on the appearances?? Is it mostly cosmetic?

*edit* sorry, after having another look at the original renderings, there are some less marked differences than what I had imagined. I'm still a little underwhelmed at the surrounding building (Winter Garden?) design though.

Karvellas' "stunned that council broke off talks" comment is beyond absurd. Yeah, Edmontonians certainly saw the Seattle trip coming. That wasn't stunning at all.
