Wow, Robbie Russo has as many points as last season, in 23 less games ! This is a Brock Nelson type of jump.

He was always a long shot anyway, it is great that he was even invited to camp. He may be a strong candidate for next year's team if he continues to develop.
Reinhart has got to be a lock for the team. Strome was always a given.

You would think, but I'm reading that Griff (who is a left-D) is behind 3 other left-D's (Harrington-Rielly-Oulette). So the open spots are all on the right (after Dougie Hamilton), with righties Corrado-Murphy-Sproul-Dumba fighting for two open spots.

Harrington and Ouellet are expected to play together(Ouellet plays the right side). From what I've been reading Reinhart seems like an unofficial lock. The question at this point is who will play with him on the 3rd pairing, and who will take the 7th spot. It seems it will be two of Dumba, Murphy and Corrado. My guess is Dumba eventually gets cut, Murphy gets paired with Reinhart and Corrado gets the 7th spot.

Reinhart will be on this team.
ridiculous that murphy will get a spot with his weak season and camp. Really cant quite believe it

He hasn't been as bad as some people have been saying. He hasn't been good, but he hasn't been "Dumba" bad. Plus, the fact that his coach at Kitchener is coaching the WJC team(Steve Spott).

I am suspicious
Once i am in my "rant" mode...kinda hard to find the exit

Haha, same here. I agree that based on production at camp as well as production this season as a whole, Corrado deserves to make it over Murphy. The two things that I think can hurt Corrado are 1) Murphy has the Spott connection and 2) Corrado is a solid 2-way defenseman, the type of guy who'd be perfect in a 7th role. He could fill in for any one of the top-6, be it an offensive or defensive guy.
Reinhart would be their best shutdown defender. Can't see him not making it.
I've been saying I wouldn't be shocked if Reinhart didn't make it, and I still won't be shocked. The amount of really good Canadian D-Men eligible is just amazing. Murray getting hurt helped Reinhart, but it guarantees him nothing. I'm rooting for him to make it, just seeing some games against Russia and some CHL games, he certainly is dominant defensively, BUT, if he's going to be the 7th d-man, and hardly play, it really would be a waste of time. I'm sure he'll be happy if he just makes it.

Reinhart is not flashy in the least, but he's quietly effective. At this point, he's got to be a lock to make the team and he'll be on the 3rd pairing with whoever TC decides to keep out of people like Dumba, Corrado, Murphy. He won't be the 7th d-man as he's not suited for that role. I expect him to play regular minutes and quite a bit of time on the PK. He's a rock.

Yep. At this point it's all but official. The only question will be who his linemate will be, and who will be the 7th. Strome and Reinhart on TC. Should be fun to watch.
Side Note: Can't wait to see some of the top prospects for 2013 in the WJCs. It looks like MacKinnon is pretty much a lock, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of Drouin/Shinkaruk make the team as well. Both have been very impressive during these scrimmages.
Then you have guys like Seth Jones for the USA, Aleksander Barkov and Rasmus Ristolainen for Finland, and Elias Lindholm for Sweden.
I'm really looking forward to watching Barkov and Lindholm the most. Barkov has obviously been a favorite around here, but from what I've seen of Lindholm so far(be it a rather small sample size) he reminds me a lot of Backstrom. Kid is so skilled yet pretty physical. Extremely high hockey IQ.
They should be announcing the cuts very shortly. Good luck Griffin.
Update, Corrado was the first cut. Canada still has to cut 2 d man.
Surprised, I thought Corrado was an unofficial lock on the right side after Hamilton, and you had three righties going after the last right-D spot. I Also thought Griffin's place on the team would depend on whether the coach wanted to carry a spare left-D vs. right-D. We'll know soon enough.

Sproul was just cut, Canada still has to cut 1 more D man.
