I'm tired of hearing about the Blues boring style. Why don't you actually try watching a game, maybe a game against a team that plays pretty much the same style. Minnesota for example.
I watch plenty of the Blues.
Everyone's immediate response to "I don't like watching team X" is "ZOMG YOU MUST NOT WATCH THEM THEY'RE SO INTERESTING AND FUN."
For you, maybe. That's fine. But don't try and tell me what my opinion is. Watching the Blues puts me to sleep, that's it.
(Of course you don't think they're boring. They're your favorite team, after all).
No they don't... why do people think this? Because we have Richards, Gabby, and Nash now? That's about it as far as pure skill goes for our forwards. Our bottom six is absolutely SLOW. Our defense is good obviously but I wouldn't call us "stacked" by any means...
Just wanted to point out for the "ZOMG so boring" crew that the Rangers were 11th in scoring last year. And this is pre-Nash.
It isn't about goals. People need to understand this. That's the type of logic that is always fueling the idiotic "wow, so I bet you'd prefer a 20-18 game, huh?" responses that anyone suggesting hockey isn't perfect as it is always gets.
A 1-0 game is amazingly exciting if there is a reasonable amount of scoring chances to keep things interesting. A 1-0 game is ridiculously boring if there is next to no action to speak of.

Well that's the other team, the Rangers will get plenty of scoring chances this year

No team in the NHL is going to get any scoring chances this year.
Lockout aside, that's doubtful. The Rangers were awesomely opportunistic - good for them. Nash is pretty dynamic. He's not about to change the way the team plays, though, so we aren't about to see the Rangers racking up scoring opportunities.
Again, not saying these teams should change. Obviously this is the style that's successful now. Obviously we are returning to the pre-lockout era.
I speak only of the entertainment value as I see it. Understandably some people (seemingly consisting chiefly of fans of the teams I mention) disagree.
I enjoy defense regardless. I enjoyed this year's finals.
Sure, some people will have this viewpoint. Everyone likes different things.
Personally I don't define the way the game is changing as "better defense," I define it as "more things being let go and systems changing." And I can't help but find the change to be making hockey less entertaining... I'd rather watch something reasonably wide open than a game where teams are battling with dump-ins as if its field position in football.
And I'm sure this nonsense would come up if this series took place and you know what I'll say?
"I can't really hear what you say cause I have my Eastern Conference Championship plug in my ear"
Can't wait.

Since I am a fan of one of those teams I'm gonna pull a Roy and tell you about what's in my ears.

St. Louis was top 10 in shots last year. They're a heavy forechecking team and not a sit back and trap team. You should know this though, because like you said, you watch enough of their games..
pretty sure everyone has the same record right now, don't get so cocky as anything could happen, the rangers aren't just being handed a playoff spot either

Lots of perimeter shots, and I never once called them a trap team. Don't put words in my mouth.
Do people really take this much issue with others' simple opinions? Not like I'm telling you you have to agree.
For the record, I hear all this about a "heavy forecheck" and it's odd... that phrase seems to characterize nearly every team in the NHL I can't stand watching. Hm.
I don't know how anybody can call the Blues style boring. Aggressive forechecking, backchecking, relentless style is exciting as hell. They drop the gloves too. Backes, Oshie, Sobotka, Steen are relentless. Plus, the top 3 lines are full of 20+ goal scorers. Now add in Tarasenko and possibly Schwartz? The Blues are loaded up and down their entire lineup. And, how many teams in history sent their backup goalie to the ASG? lol.
Another Blues fan. Find me a couple non St. Louis fans who will agree who aren't also fans of teams like the Rangers, and then I'll consider your side a little more seriously.
I'm a Canucks fan. St. Louis plays an exciting brand of hockey. Big tough pure 'murica defense. They play hard. And everyone in the top six is a power forward. What a forecheck.
Just kidding, they play hockey that is almost as boring as Canucks hockey used to be when Luongo was far and away our best player. Almost as boring, and not as boring, because it was my favourite team. And also because of great save Luongo.

I would be pissed too if my team couldn't score against them

No, but when someone discredits the opinions of others and outright tells them they're wrong, you can come off as a bit of a jerk. Honestly, you're acting as if your opinion somehow became fact when there's little to credit it.
So don't throw out the "it's just my opinion" card immediately after attacking others. There's a difference between attacking and disagreeing with someone.
