Doesn't seem to be working. Blew a 3-1 lead in the third, lost 5-3.

Four goals in 14 minutes, two on the PP. Not all Smith's fault.

Milwaukee won 5-2 at Charlotte. Bourque had 2 goals and Latta had 3 assists. Hellberg was the winning goalie over Dan Ellis. Jarvinen had 2 fights.

#DanEllisproblems

Sounds like Hellberg made an awful decision on the second goal. Went way out of the crease to play the puck and obviously it didn't work out.

did Ellis sign a minor league contract? will he be able to sign with an NHL team when the lockout is over?

Yes, Ellis signed a minor league deal with Charlotte (AHL) after training camps were underway with the Checkers. Because he is on an AHL only deal, if an NHL team wanted to sign him, they would be free to do so.

Maybe this is me reading too much into some blowouts, but does Hellberg stand much of a chance at taking a 1B/1A position by the end of the year?

He's been looking better as of recently. Last time I posted here, Hellberg looked good except for some rebound and confidence issues. He looks calm and poised, just lacking a bit of experience.

He's starting for the second game in a row right now (down 3-1 late in the 3rd) though from the sound of it the team has played awful, especially in the 2nd period giving up a ton of odd man rushes so it doesn't sound like he's been helped and his save percentage in the game is still over 90% even with that.

I could see him taking over late in the season if Smith continues to struggle and Hellberg makes the most of the chances he gets.

Only 2 shots in the 2nd period for the Ads (21 total). That just can't do.

I noticed COR was called up from Cincy today. Not surprising since he was the best D down there.

The Admirals play at home on Friday against Rockford. My 3rd home game in only 2 months of season. The AHL schedule maker sucks!!!

Does this kid have a shot at the NHL? Seems most of the stuff if hear about his is pretty disappointing (i.e. not even making the Ads)

I will try to scout Jarvinen and COR tonight for you! The AHL is a tough league. The 15 Western Conference teams have a 14 point spread. The EC has a 13 point spread.
Rockford has gone 7-3 in recent games. Maybe the Ads can slaughter the Hogs!

Does this kid have had a real chance to make the Ads ever? He just turned 21, first year as a pro and here in Cincy, he was our D-man by a mile. He is skilled and physical. Without the CBA situation, I'm sure he would have made the Ads this year. A young player has to play and I think the Preds wanted him to play on regular basis instead of being HS in Milwaukee. Time will tell but don't be surprised COR plays in your top 4 eventually.

As for having a shot at the NHL? again time will tell.

Ads win in overtime 4-3. Henderson with the winner.

Bourque 2goals
Latta goal
Beck 2a

Both Jarvinen and Latta had scraps.

Nice to see Jarvinen dropping the mits. He was a beast in Finnish national team in World Champs. Just needs to learn the NA game more (plus fighting) and I'm sure he could make a career in NHL in bottom pairing.

Please give some feedback on Joonas.

Here is my report on COR and Jarvinen. I missed COR at the start because he was wearing #11 instead of #13 as shown in the STH notes. He was steady on D and did a good job on breakouts. Mostly he skated the puck up to the red line before passing to a forward. I don't remember him losing the puck or making a bad pass. He can play in the AHL. He fit it seamlessly. I didn't see any hits, but I didn't see any mistakes either. I also didn't see him in the third period. I give him a B+ overall.

Jarvinen had a big hit in the first period. He nearly knocked a guy into the Rockford bench. I have never seen him hit somebody that far up the ice. Usually his hits come from his blue line towards the end boards. Jarvinen did have a fight. He held his own against a guy who seemed to be a real fighter. I didn't see what started the fight. Jarvinen smiled after the fight. He played well, I give him a B overall.

COR made a bad pass to the RW just inside the defensive blue line. Hamilton's D-man Antoine Corbin shot the puck from there. It hit a stick, then Jarvinen's skate in the slot and was headed toward Jeremy Smith's pads by the right post. Jarvinen swatted at the puck and deflected it inside the left post by 6 inches for Hamilton's first goal.

Milwaukee won the game 4-3. Roussel, wearing #13, didn't play in the third period, just like on Friday night.

Okay. He is averaging 0.5 points per game with 3 G and 8 A in 21 games. Other teams watch him carefully. I think that his rate of scoring will increase as the season goes on.

would be really nice if Pickard finds his game and comes back over next year and gets back in with the Ads...
