Seems like you just don't like him. He has no attitude issues, he did what was best for his development
He has no attitude issues, yet he thinks he's too good for 89% of the league's teams?
If I'm Baie-Comeau (or any other team) and some 16 year old diva refused to report, I'd have let him play Junior A or NCAA. They did get a pretty good return though, so at least they were able to use their asset...
Why only Halifax or Rimouski? I bet his development would have been severely hindered by having to play for Saint John last year, or having to play under the tutelage of André Tourigny, Patrick Roy, Benoît Groulx, or Eric Veilleux (the reigning Memorial Cup coach under whom he'd be playing right now).
I think he felt that a player of his talent deserves to play for his hometown team (thus presenting him with the least amount of personal inconvenience) and would have begrudgingly went to Crosby's old team.
Drouin is neck and neck with MacKinnon right now. Both project as top line NHLers and potential all-stars. MacKinnon is more about scoring off the rush with speed like Yakupov, Drouin is more in the Giroux mold with great all around skills but vision and HS stand out.
