Maybe this deal has been proposed by the league already?
split down the middle (essentially)...who woulda thunk it?

this makes way too much sense so no chance the NHL or PA accept!

This has become such an incredibly huge joke, it really can't take this long to work a deal, both sides know what needs to be done. The fact of the matter is that Fehr is here to only play mind games and throw his weight around a little, and Bettman has nothing to lose anymore. I'm normally optimistic, but this season IS OVER. O-V-E-R. There won't be any hockey until Fehr is removed from the picture completely.

Mediation isn't going to do a damn thing, this is a waste of time and the damage the NHL has done to itself can not be stated enough. Sure hardcore fans will watch again, but the real problem they face is getting the casual fair-weather fans back, which is a really large percentage of people. Let's face it, this isn't the NFL, it's a Canadian sport based mostly in the USA, everyone here has completely forgotten that NHL is even supposed to be going on right now.

I want to look away too but I have this thing about watching train wrecks. This has to be fascinating watching for lawyers, profs, union types, etc. Where else can you watch such a disastrous process unfold? This must be a serious teaching moment in some quarters.

Yep. This has firmly become the most embarrassing sports labor negotiation in the history of NA sports. Regardless of whose side anyone is on I think we can all agree that both sides should be ashamed what they've created.

It's quite evident that the NHL is done giving ammo to the PA: every time they propose something the PA says thank you and asks for more; this also has been on going since the start of this whole mess. Nothing wrong with trying to get the best deal but if you never put anything forward then don't expect the other side to keep offering!

Doesn't sound like PA is willing to work with the NHL's 3 main issues. League responded by saying it won't budge. No progress. As you were.

There you go.. Just cancel the season already.
