Doesn't he create the music he talks over though? Putting together samples of older music together to create something new is a skill. For example, DJ Shadow's album Endtroducing is put together 100% from samples of old music and that's probably in my top 5 albums ever.
If someone else makes the music and Kanye just talks over it though, my point is moot.
Copying somebody else catchy song to make your own catchy song is not talent.
I'm incredibly jaded by the modern music industry. You know who decides what everybody likes and listens to? The record companies. They decide what radio stations get to play 30 times a day.
It's not hard to make a catchy song with almost zero original content and then shove it down people's throats.
Confirmed: Chain NOT heading to the UK in '13. Eh. So close.

Outlining is your friend. Too bad HG isn't around to offer some advice...

Meh, I don't have much advice. Every writer has different things that work for them. Outlining, not outlining, writing big chunks, writing measured portions every day, etc.
The only thing I'll say is just write it. It doesn't have to be good the first time, that's what edits are for, but it does have to be written. It seems so many writers block themselves because their aiming for too high a level on the first go round.

I just got a good laugh in the mail. The lust of my life sent me one of those musical picture frames with Dierks Bentley's 'Lot of Leaving Left To Do' recorded on it. Now I'm trying to figure out if she meant her or I with the Lot of Leaving Left to do part.
My current work is coming along nicely. I've written 38 chapters and a prologue, about 69,522 words (140 pages on word, some of which are notes) or a little less than the length of The Catcher in the Rye so far.
At around 62,000 words in I finally figured out, vaguely, where the story is going. Not so much what the ending is specifically, but the impressions that need to come from the ending. How long it will take to get to that point, I have no idea.

Pardon me if you said this earlier, what is the genre of this book you are writing?
Guy who lives in the apartment next to me just died.
Granted, he was an elderly gentleman (75, maybe?) but still awful. From what I can tell, he was just alone there in the apartment and quietly passed. Family tried to contact him, but realized around 4 that he wasn't responding. Police/paramedics came and found him

i can't remember if I mentioned it or not. With so much of the story undefined, I haven't really gotten into specifics.
Fantasy fiction with many erotic elements, though it isn't specifically erotica. It's about a nymph/succubus underworld existing beneath modern culture. So sex is a central theme to the story, though it isn't written specifically to be a sexual novel if that makes sense, haha.
Who ever posted that odd looking flower/pod picture a few days... Yeah I can't get that damn image out of my mind and I don't know why. It's driving me crazy. It's not like it's gross or anything. I just can't get the image out of my head and it's really stinking annoying that I can't.

I am very sorry, it is horrible.
Here's hoping this will overwrite that image:
It's the same plant, but it's friendly now.

If that didn't work, here are some tiny puppies:
Thanks for the try but there in lies the the problem with having a photographic memory. Images get stuck in my head very easily. I've learned over the years some tricks to get images out of the "forefront" of my head but none of them are working for that one.
What sucks is even when I get them out of the "forefront" of my head they stay in my subconscious and sometimes the littlest of things bring those images back. It's always the weird or nasty **** that comes back easily.
You give me the right trigger I can remember an image I saw when I was my son's age.
