Still deciding if the NHL is really serious about not moving any further.

Not likely.

Some of these NHL guys are a little too much. Both sides.

Surrender? Now I know where Bill Watters gets his BS from. The NHL might need a change of leadership. Some of these guys are stuck in the 1970s and 1980s when Alan Eagleson ran the PA with the help of the NHL.

This guy was a former player and was a member of management. Many NHLPA guys probably share this view.

Bettman isn't getting fired. Gary probably has protection negotiated in his contract. Just like Fehr.
I'm with you.

If there was any chance that Bettman was soon to be replaced that ended when Tanenbaum walked out of the negotiations with the players.

Make-Whole
Contract Term lengths
CBA length

I suppose.

I still cant believe an entire season is going to be canceled over those 3 issues. Then again, Im just a reasonable fan and am not part of the negotiations led by 2 unreasonable people.

Ive read that the make-whole has fluctuated between $211M and $300M. I guess I'll file that under "Transition Issues."

As for contract term limits, is Fehr really willing to die on that hill with Bill Daly? For a term limit that the vast majority of NHL'ers dont receive anyway? While said NHL'ers continue to miss paychecks?

That CBA length should fall into place once both sides agree in principle to the other 2 issues.

Fehr is the one who has the players convinced it can get better.

What do you say about this one then?:

" Rest easy, here is your new CBA

December, 13, 2012 3:45 PM ET By Scott Burnside | ESPN.com"

Well according to at least one top-level executive on the owners’ side of the table and a number of key players and agents, yes, the two sides are close.

How close?

One NHL governor provided ESPN.com with the framework for a deal he insisted would be palatable to both sides.
Assuming the elements that were discussed last week in New York were still in place -- like $300 million in "make-whole" monies,
agreements on free agency and arbitration rights -- the governor said he believes the following elements would represent the middle ground i
n the outstanding contracting, CBA term and transition issues.

Let’s call it the Do This Deal or Get Coal in Your Stocking for a Thousand Years deal.

-A nine-year CBA with a seven-year out for either side.
-A six-year contract limit with front-load/back-diving protection and eight-year limits for players who have been with a team for five years.
-Some simple buyout option as long as the buyouts are within the salary cap.

It can. And it should. The owners are being selfish ****** right now, they'll need to wake up if we're going to have a season this year.

Yea let me know when that happens. I hope they settle on the contract/CBA years issues, but it would not shock me at all if the make whole $ consistently go down. The more games that are missed the less revenue there is that can go into that fund.

shouldnt the make whole for this season be pro-rated anyways based on how many games they played? it should be going down with each offer as the amount of potential games gets less and less.

Seriously, though 100% pro-player, I'm tired of this crap already. 6th graders could settle this with just a bit of adult supervision. Both sides need to move but who is going to take the first step?

Did they consider voting on if they should vote to vote for the proposal after that?
