In the SSS and the game yesterday, Shinkaruk has impressed me quite a bit. He's looked like much more of a threat than Monahan.
It's important to remember the challenges a Center faces playing against older and tougher opponents than a winger does. A lot more responsibility and that extra effort down low can take some of the jump out of your step going the other way. I would still have Monahan above him.

I totally agree. I'm just making the point that offence - offence, I think Shinkaruk has the edge.
almost reminds me of the whole Tavares - Kadri thing
How does it remind you of that? The situations are not similar at all. Considering they only played 24 regular season games together and 14 playoff games together. Kadri actually played at a higher pace before Tavares came to London...

I think the comparison they're going for is 1st-overall scorer with 7th-overall (or thereabouts for Drouin, obviously we don't know yet) playmaker teammate.

Ok...and...?
That seems like a weird thing to compare on. Like I said, completely different situations. Drouin/MacKinnon played all season together. Kadri/Tavares barely played a third of it together. Drouin/MacKinnon played on the same line. Kadri/Tavares didn't.

Haha, don't look at me, I'm not the one making the comparison. Obviously there are differences, yes, but I think the comparison was mostly based on that (still fairly ample) similarity. Tavares was also pretty much ready to step right into the NHL (like MacKinnon could be) while Kadri's taken a few years to develop his game to that level (like people are projecting for Drouin).
I like the idea of picking up Lipon in the 2nd round. We need an offensively able right winger in the top 6 other than Kessel. He is a very intriguing prospect to say the least...
Lupul - Bozak/Kadri - Kessel
JVR - Grabo - ?
Kulemin - Connolly - Prospect in system
Drouin has nasty hands, but the problem is that he is essentially a slightly better Nazem Kadri, and hes not going to be in the NHL anytime soon.
i don't think you're giving drouin enough credit, to go along with his absolutely filthy hands, his hockey IQ is incredible.. you need to see him play to appreciate it, just wait for the world juniors
