I don't get out to as many games this year, as I had to step away from coaching/managing in the last couple weeks. got laid off (like a good portion of the people here in Windsor), and have to find stable work before I can dedicate so much time to coaching.

At least I have the tele....
Good luck to you, it's a tough economy in Essex County.

Recall top ten prospects like John McIntyre, Joe Sacco, Peter Ing, Jack Capuano, and Eric Lacroix.
McIntyre was a great kid who suffered a terrible leg injury the fact he even made it to the NHL was a testimony to him, also an out standing Student with plus 90%. Joe Sacco saw him play in the NCAA Champioships at the Joe along with his brother David also a Leaf pick and Thomlinson. First time I saw Rob Blake play for Miami of Ohio they won the ncaa championship at the Joe he had super star written all over him. Ing with the Knights, had hight hopes for both Capuano and Lacroix they were up for a Cup of Tea but just fell short. My first draft was in Montreal in 81 when they took Benning, that was the year the Stastny's defected and they showed up at the Queen Elizabeth. Meet or see a lot of people at the drafts met Clarence Campbell there and Bob Gainey and a host of others.

I caught the last two periods. Not much to report on him though, other than him hitting a post from a shot in the slot. He looked good though.

Anybody know if this will this be his last game until after the WJC? (if he makes the US squad)

A little off topic, but that Ekblad kid looks like a stud, would love if somehow we can nab him in 2014. (with another teams 1st rounder)
a Rielly-Ekblad pairing would be amazing.

US camp starts on Sunday, so he'll probably play tomorrow night before heading to the states...

Well I expect him to become a top 6 winger so that is nice to hear.

I love the part when Tyler says he is ' extremely passionate, extremely competitive, about hockey and about his family. It's the way the I have always been '.

Got to love it when he joins the Leafs.

What exactly were your/everyone's expectations if being just under PPG on a decent OHL team 2 years after being drafted qualifies as exceeding them?

This is his first year in the OHL and has been doing great. Can't really ask much more point wise with his style of play even if he is on a great team.

One of the big prospect rating sites called for 10 goals for Biggs in the OHL this year he has 19 already and has missed a batch of games when playing in world JR's

He has a good shot to pass 30 goals for the season and might have had 35-40 had he not been at the JR's..

This is somehow bad for a big power forward prospect????

What our you smoking

I'm not. I expect a 30 pt, defensive player that plays with a very tough edge. A player the other team worries about. But a 3rd liner. A real 3rd liner. Not a 2nd line prospect, getting the 3rd most minutes.

As far as exceeding expectations, he hasn't for me. I expected near a PPG. Maybe a bit more. He is 19 now and very big and strong.

Yeah he's 19, not 20. If he was 20, we wouldn't have seen him at the world juniors and he'd be up with the Marlies.

Of course you can ask for more from him. His teammate Boone Jenner drafted a few spots later in the same year is scoring at a much better pace, nearly a goal per game. Brett Ritchie's having a much better year too. Nicklas Jensen put up a PPG in his draft year and again last year. Brandon Saad's playing in the NHL and Stefan Noesen is also scoring at a similar pace in the OHL. Unless you had really low expectations for Biggs to begin with, I don't know how you can say he's exceeding them. Putting up a PPG as a forward in the CHL two years after you're drafted is not particularly special nor is it anything like a guarantee of future success in the pros.

people need to lay off of biggs, this is his rookie year in OHL, he is playing really well, plus he will most likely be in PRO next year

Ive seen Biggs a few times this year. He's a project. Big bodied who plays the boards well, good puck control, decent skater. Probably will peak out 15 to 20 goals. Like most big guys (Ashton, Colborne) 2 years will do him wonders in the A. Should be a good 3rd liner in due time.
