Depends on how the pre-tournament games go IMO. They have great chemistry obviously, but if you can spread the scoring around, give it a try... Lipon, Rattie, Hudon could all be tried with them as they would fit there, and played with them a bit in the camp games.

I did not see the CIS games. How good was Lipon? Did he deserve to make it.

Well, here's my lines I'd go with;

Huberdeau - Nugent-Hopkins - Rattie
Drouin - MacKinnon - Scheifele
Hudon - Strome - Ritchie
Danault - Jenner - Lipon

Rielly - Hamilton
Ouellet - Harrington
Reinhart - Wotherspoon/Murphy
Wotherspoon/Murphy

Subban
Binnington

He was a standout in the game today and was pretty solid in the other games as well. He was winning most puck battles against guys bigger than him.

Meant to quote your Lipon question

That's absolutely disgusting centre depth, and you don't even have Scheifele playing C.

Indeed. We could even play arugably the Q's best center on the wing with all the middlemen we have. (Danault)

Agreed, I haven't seen this much forward depth since 2009. Our top 2 lines are pretty much NHL calibre. Skill, skill and more skill.

Brossoit got cut? He was the 2nd best goalie in camp. Seems like Subban only made the team because of his last name.

Methinks Subban made the team based a lot on what he has done with Belleville, and being that Spott coaches in the same league probably played a part.

I have a question for you guys:

I'm assuming that Dougie Hamilton will get a lot of PP time...who is likely to play the other side...Rielly or Murphy?

I would say it had more to do with his SS and U18s.

Rielly! Let him do this thing. Being a Leaf fan I'm a bit biased :p His hockey instincts and IQ are off the charts, combine that with his speed and skill and you're looking at a deadly combo.

I agree with a Flames fan. There was an Eastern Canada bias in the selection. If Subban is the starting goalie for any extended period of time.. the Canadian squad will go home disappointed. Broissoit and Dumba deserve to be there. I hope they go back to their WHL teams and prove Prendergast wrong with outstanding play!

In Dream Team years Canada should be able to have two teams, or have an Ontario Team and a rest of Canada team.

The fact that Murphy runs Kitchener's PP and Spott is very familiar with him could lead to two things imo

1. Put Murphy with Hamilton
2. Put Murphy with any random Dman, and let him run the 2nd PP unit

Dumba did not deserve to go. He had a terrible camp. I know the coaches will say it's the 4 plus months before hand that gets evaluated too, but you have to figure with the camp he had..it definitely had something to do with it. He looked lost out there. He got beat numerous times by university kids..come on now. This team is about world class talent not guys getting blown by from some guys playing out their school years.

In my opinion..... yes.

He was excellent today, creating a lot of opportunities. The thing that impressed me is how he meshed with everyone he played with. In the Red-White Scrimmage he made some good plays with mackinnon and Drouin and today did the same with Mcniell I believe

Rant on:

I like the concept of team toughness with skill and without huge liabilities... This team has it.

Being competent for top6 doesn't automatically mean you can't play other roles? That's just not logical...
Gritty players are usually called defensive, because they get defensive roles due to not being able to do anything else... They aren't necessarily better defensively. Is there some hockey god regulator that makes you only good at one but not both? Besides, the best way to reduce chances for the other team is a strong system with skilled players too keep the puck in the other teams zone as much as possible.
Rarely are "bottom6" guys better defensively than 2way-players.
Rarely are "bottom6" guys able to push the puck out of their zone
Many of the best "top6" guys were elite "bottom6" guys before they were pushed up

TC has many players that are solid defensively
TC has many players that can play well on the PK
TC has many players that can play an edgy game if given the role
Many of our "offensive players" play with an edge, are solid against-the-boards/in-the-corners/in-front-of-the-net

For example look at our top line:
Huberdeau: plays with an edge, can be physical and dynamic, plays with emotion (just ask that ref), solid defensively
RNH: doesn't get pushed around by NHLers... why would he have a problem at WJC? Solid defensively at an NHL level
Scheifele: was one of the grittiest players for the Can-Rus Summer Challenge (even got a misconduct lol although it was iffy), solid defensively
Heck, we could play power vs power and line these guys against the other teams top lines!!!

Fair enough, I never watched the scrimmages.. but sounds like not many impressed against U of A and Dumba has been great for the Rebels of late. I'm glad Reinhardt made it.
