We are organizing a most handsome player in the league poll tournament for the poll board, could you guys give me 3 of the most handsome players on the team?
We are doing a 68 player tournament and are doing 2 from each team with 8 players as wildcards.
According to my house survey, most of the cbj eye candy now lives in Phoenix: Vermette, Brule, Klesla. Of course, Raffi is the great nullifier in that equation.
Brassard, Moore, and Jenner when he makes the big club are the current candidates. We have no Lundqvist or Sharp to offer.
The Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL announced today that the Indoor Winter Classic will be played against the Ontario Reign at Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena, Tuesday, January 1 at 2 pm.
“The game will feature many arena doors being left open in hope of creating unpredictable breeze patterns,” said Wranglers President and Chief Operating Officer Billy Johnson. “We are hoping for quite a draft.”

I don't want to jump on a guy too much for speaking his mind (all too rare for NHL players), but given the Canadian media's penchant for blowing all things WJC out of proportion, this probably wasn't the smartest comment to make.

Million Dollar Skill, Dime Store personality...
That's his attitude, and a big part of the reason I'm glad we wound up with Ryan Murray instead of him. We need leaders on this team, not cocky trash talkers.
Point is, there is all kinds of hilarious accusations going on in this thread, and all because of a little comment that people are missing the true motive of - Yakupov trying to gain an edge. His comments are no different than Tortarella sounding off about the Penguins last year, get the attention of the refs before the puck drops. If Team Canada seeks him out because of the comments, penalties may be more likely to be called and Russia gets more power plays. If Canada lays up against Yakupov in fear of being over-scrutinized by officials, then he gets the extra room out there and increases his effectiveness. If someone takes him out immediately with a dirty hit, then it further justifies his comments. He seemingly wins in every scenario short of Team Canada playing a perfectly disciplined game and beating the Russians in doing so - a tall order.
I find it funny that some poster's question him wearing the C when a move like this is exactly what a captain must do, persuade the officials to see things from his team's perspective. The overreaction of some is the truly troubling part.
Also, if you wanna find out what kind of person Yakupov is - read this his interview. Don't judge the kid based on the few words thrown out of context by some Candian journalist. Yakupov said it at least 10 days ago, but they post it just now and only the words they wanted to post.
The issue is that I believe his words most likely got lost in the translation. If the article would have said that the Canadian players were aggressive or even over aggressive, that's one thing. But insinuating that they are dirty players suggests that only Canadian players play that way. Who knows what he really meant (I don't think he meant that) but Vladimir Konstantinov was the epitome of what would be considered a dirty player and last I remember he was a Russian. I'm sure I could think of others as well. BTW Vladdie was one of my favorite players because of the way he played, borderline reckless. It was a shame that his career ended so senselessly.
USA!!! USA!!! Good job boys, on to the gold medal game
Gibson deserves player of the tournament. Got screwed out of a shutout.
And BTW: Canada looked unbelievably flat while USA came out roaring. I attribute this to the bye. I really hope the NHL doesn't add play-in games and byes to their playoffs.
Nice. Seems like it's been awhile since I've read a Pete Goegan shared link ... have you been around less?
I was on vacation (crossing the Atlantic in December!) and then had some minor surgery that kept me away from the computer for awhile. Nice of you to notice, SL.
Before the lockout I barely watched much junior hockey. I didn't know what I was missing. I am really impressed with the speed of the game and how talented these young guys are. Plan on watching more even when the lockout ends.
Congrats to the USA on making the finals. Can't say I'm disappointed seeing the Canadians and Russians battling it out for the bronze
