That wasn't sarcasm, it was a typo I guess.

We got to see a fair bit of Beaulieu on TV, even for us non-serious followers of the Q, just because of how good his team was, and his juniors exposure. I never liked too much of that... until I saw him in the last camp for the Habs, I though he played really well in the exhibition games, really carried the puck and moved with "authority", I thought. He hasn't looked anywhere near as good in the AHL IMHO. It's a process, though. He has the tools. All those questioning whether his mental game will allow him to deploy them most effectively are asking the right question IMHO.

Meant to say last month when he played Grand Rapids and last year in the Q.

I see him becoming a #3 dman in the NHL. As someone said, he won't put up a ton of points, but 30-40 is not out of question.

The raw skills are there and I'm not too worried about his defensive play. But he'll have to show more character and intensity.

He could become that, I think his defense needs to get better first thought.

Probably have watched him 20 times or so in the last 2 and less than a half years, and he has not impressed me once, aside from a pre-season game... Nice skillset but I doubt he reaches his full potential.

Lol one mistake by a 19 year-old proves he has weak mental strength.

Talented but raw. If he improves decision making he has a good shot at being a top 4.

The same could of been said for Subban when he was a young D-Man....

Beaulieu has been heating up lately. 7 points in his last 8 games on a beyond terrible offensive team. Got his first AHL goal tonight.

Nice to see him finally putting up some numbers!

He reminds me of a much lower Hockey IQ Nick Leddy. Very good skating and stick handling but I very much question how effective that will be at the next level for him. Then again the game is far more offensively oriented than the past and maybe his horrendous turnovers and poor breakout vision won't be as harmful. Keith Ballard made a career for himself without ever being able to read a breakout effectively so maybe Beaulieu can too. Similar players IMO.

Eh not really..as a junior/ahl player, PK stood out a lot more with that skillset.

However, I do think Nathan will be a solid player. Not a first pairing guy but a useful piece to the Habs blueline. His play of late is hopefully a sign of him getting adjusted to the AHL.

But pre-draft he dropped because of his lack of D.

Nathan is really picking his game up right now, from the last 3 game I saw he starts to be more dominant and makes better decision with the puck. I guess it was just a matter of time since he started the season as a 19 years old and that 5 of of the 6 defencemen were under 23 years old. I have no doubt he'll be a PP specialist in 2-3 years with the Habs but he still need some time in the AHL.

Beaulieu's confidence has picked up big time in the past few games and you can see it in all facets of the game. He is making smart decisions with the puck and really controlling the play with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone.

Last night's goal he picked the right time to pinch and was in the perfect spot to anticipate the rebound. His assist on Bournival's goal was the best though. He skated quickly and confidently from the right point to the left circle and took the perfect shot. I liked that he took the time to look for the opening and then found it perfectly.

Yes but Nathan is a few years removed from his draft now.

Your quote was responding to Nathan's AHL struggles. Then you referenced PK's junior struggles. PK learned to handle pro hockey players in his own end. Time will tell if Nathan can do the same. He certainly isn't developing as fast as PK, which is fine, so hopefully he can learn from his experiences and grow as a player and person.

One year.

He does have four junior seasons under his belt though. You're right that he isn't developing as fast as Subban did, but very few players do. Subban's progression was incredibly fast.

How did PK stand out more ? PK fell to the 2nd round, Beaulieu slide slightly to the mid 1st.

Beaulieu has been hot lately. Subban started off slowly in the AHL, too.

Uhh Gainey traded Mcdo.

I see the old "I trust in Timmons/Gainey" mantra is starting up again.
