The US will need Gibson to be at the top of his game in order to go deep in this tourney.

Campbell was playing pretty poor coming into last year.

Lock no. 90+% chance? I'd go with that.

Huberdeau's suspension ends before the tournament I believe.

Very convenient rulings by Hockey Canada.

I read on TSN that his suspension ends before the tournament. I don't follow the Canadian team closely enough, but that's just what I saw.

Very convenient of course.

Chris Peters updated his blog saying that the IIHF will uphold Noesen's suspension likely costing him the WJC's. Says USA Hockey will appeal the decision. Also there is video of the hit up on the blog as well.

If Noesen misses the WJC, who will replace him?

I'd imagine it means both Ryan Hartman and Riley Barber will make the team whereas they were likely competing with each other before the suspension. That is, unless they decide to play someone out of position.

That said, I see no reason the IIHF should suspend a player for something that happened in a league game. Will the 8 or 9 games he's to play count against his suspension as time served when he returns? I doubt it which means the 10 game suspension becomes an 18 to 19 game suspension.

The OHL is pretty consistent with these hits.

Sucks.

Although that was a blatant charge and head shot.

He leapt off the ice pretty good, probably a foot off the ice before contact on a much taller player.

I don't like the OHL's policy that every hit to the head is 10 games, but it's 100% consistent with the way they hand out discipline.

wow ok. in the article it said like it looked like the guy more hit his head off the glass than actual Noesen. would you agree with that or is it really blatant?

Hopefully USA Hockey's appeal bears fruit. We'll see. That said, I have a hard time making a case for any forward radically changing our fortunes one way or the other-even Galchenyuk. Noesen's potential loss hurts, but there are players of a similar ilk who could step up (Hartman for example). This raises the stakes for Kerdiles as well.

Haha thanks. Being from Boston, I hope the local kids Vesey and Grzelyck make the cut.
