Lesson learned - I'll use quotation marks next time.
Think before you speak and especially before you lay blame on anyone.

I first read the news after my final exam for the semester, what a horrible day for everyone.

Scary to think that something like this can literally happen anywhere, at any time. It really makes you appreciate your loves ones more, RIP to the victims of this tragedy.

Bad people will always find guns. The time has come to allow sane citizens to carry weapons if they chose so. No way that piece of **** walks into that school today knowing some of those people may be armed. 40 plus school shootings since Columbine. Had there been designations for some staff to carry weapons many don't happen IMO.

Would you care to defend the media for interviewing children who just witnessed something 99% of adults wouldn't be able to process? Or can we all agree that's reprehensible?

That's pretty cynical. You definitely have a bit of a point there but diagnosing and fixing mental problems has to be one of the hardest things to do.

A lot of times with behavioral health issues, medication is the only answer. Therapy can't cure a chemical imbalance.

As a society we tend to over medicate, I agree. But in these severe cases, you have to believe there is a medical issue beyond being disturbed to the point that therapy would set you right.

I'm sorry Lou, but you're out to lunch with that thought. What happens if that sane person gets cut off? What happens if they have a fit of rage?

That would only result in more accidents and more fatalities.

I'll just leave it at that as we cannot discuss political issues here.

Can't blame you.

Every time I hear about a school shooting I can't help but feel a rush of memories from Dawson back in 2006.

Why do people feel the need to kill.

I don't believe in the need for them. But maybe Chris Rock is right. Give everybody guns but charge $5000 for a bullet.

Those poor, poor people in Ct.
I can't even begin to imagine. All bs aside you would have to lock me away. I don't have the kind of strength it must take to go on if it were my child.

My child is quite grown up but if anything happened to her I wouldn't want to go on.

My heart goes out to all of those people. There are no words for that kind of grief.

I was curious as to your take on it. I'm not saying that you're doing anything.

I appreciate the fact that as a member of the media you may have a different take on how this has been handled, and you may feel the need to stick up for your profession or offer insight from the other side. I get that. I still think that the media has botched how this story has been covered, and it's borderline inexcusable given the subject matter.

My mom is 77. I asked her once when do you stop worrying about your kids. She said to me " never".

She was right.

It's really stupid to blame anyone to be honest. When things like this happen it shouldn't be about trying to scoop each other. The need to do so is what causes the misinformation that in some cases, can ruin lives.

This whole thing sucks

Scotto, with all due respect, I think the conversation is an interesting subtext to what happened today.
