All I've really noticed is when he clanged a post early in the second on a backdoor pass during the 4v4 play.

Catenacci just probably seal his fate unless he has a good third period.
Awful turnover that led to a goal and wasn't helped out by Dumba.

Catenacci makes it through the first round of cuts. Big day tomorrow.

Very tough for draft-eligible players to make it. But I was hoping a couple of the draft studs would make it, have marginal tournaments and then slip down draft boards a la Couturier. I'd love Monahan on the Sabres!

It'll be interesting to see how many of MacKinnon, Shinkaruk and Drouin make the team. If Canada only brings one draft-eligible, Catenacci has a reasonable shot of making it. If they bring two, I think he may be on the outside looking in.

If we have prospects on 4 of the top 5 teams, this tournament well be as good as it's ever been for me. Any word on McCabe's chances for USA? I haven't been following him as closely.

Most of the speculated lineups in the Team USA thread have him on the 2nd or 3rd pairing, playing with either Trouba, S. Jones, or Connor Murphy (20th overall, PHX, 2011 Draft), all of whom are righties.

He's been playing well lately. I'd think he's a near lock, unless he just has a terrible camp. Seems like a lot of people expect him to play with Trouba in a shutdown role.

Sounds like Catenacci has had a rather pedestrian day today, which may not bode well for his chances. I thought he'd have to be an impact player today to give himself a chance.

Yeah, he wasn't really noticeable today outside of a shift where his line sustained some offensive zone pressure and when he made a drop pass to no one in front of the empty net instead of shooting.

Oh well, he got further than I would have ever imagined prior to the season. No shame in getting that far.

Not so surprising. He was a long shot anyways. The fact he lasted a cut longer than Monahan was surprising to me

He didn't have much of a chance making that team. If the NHL was playing it would be a different story.

Sure he did, any player invited has a chance. Did people think Lipon or Camara would make the team? likely not many.

There are suprised every single year at camp.

I think Monahan would have stayed longer if he had been in game shape.
He hadn't played in about three weeks thanks to a ridiculous suspension.

Yeah that 10 game suspension was a joke. I could have seen a game or two, but 10 games to me implies an intent to injure and I just didn't see that on that Macdonald hit. Hopefully he'll get the chance to play for Canada next year.

I was waiting for video on this one, but here's the minor penalty McCabe drew on Friday night:

...and this was his teammate's retaliation (suspended only one game for an illegal check) on Saturday night:

That's straight out of the Zach Kassian school of hitting right there.

Is there an actual date for the US team camp or are they just going to show up on the 26th?

Just noticed that Galchenyuk played tonight and find it amusing that they haven't even had their camp yet.

It's possible. Persson came over in March a few years back. Sens brought Silfverberg over in April after he shredded the SEL last season. Never too early to get European players into NA rhythm.
