What the hell is up with the Saskatoon Blades lately? Their last 3 games have had a ridiculous amount of goals for in them. Moreover, what happened with the Wheat Kings? Corbin Boes has regressed hard this year.
Wheat kings are an awful team. Outside of Pulock their only noteworthy player is Hawrylck, but he's a rookie who's not even draft eligible.
Olsen, a Winnipeg Jets prospect, was acquired by the Rockets this summer in the trade that sent Shane McColgan to the Saskatoon Blades. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder brought size and grit to his new team while setting a new career mark with 16 goals so far this season.
"The size that he added up the middle of the ice for us was important," Huska said. "We felt it was important to get bigger down the middle, but so far Ryan's been good for us at both ends of the ice. He's been physical for us, he's given us the size we're looking for, but he also chips in with a lot of goals early on in the year and that's something we're hoping will continue."
Can't find any QMJHL highlights anywhere so I'm buying the archived games off their webcast thinger to put in the weekly video.
Had to share this one early because Cisse's got some good moves.
he's an over age so I'll keep my opinions in check... but it is very possible that this short stint in the Q might be able to get his game/confidence back. If this somehow even just improves him from being a guy we wouldn't have signed to a depth guy on the rock, I'll be happy.
Of note: 1:20'ish, nice rush by Trouba out of his own zone, 3:40'ish, Trouba's goal.
A decent rush by Trouba at about the 3:20 mark as well where he made it through clean but lost an edge on the wrap around. the good news is despite Michigan's recent slump (nice to get this win) I have not seen Trouba make any mistakes in the highlight packages lately and even in the bad losses he hasn't been on the ice for the goals.
With his ability to execute the stretch pass, rush the puck, and shoot the puck it appears his offensive skill set was undersold a bit. He is not as slick as a Morgan Rielly with the puck but he has speed and can definatly make things happen and his shot (velocity, accuracy, ability to one time) might be the best in his draft class from what I have seen (limited sample size).
According to the posters on the USA WJC board it sounds like Jacob is their favorite to be named captain of team USA. throw in his size and nasty edge and that is pretty close to what I imagine a prototype Winnipeg Jet will be under Chevy's tenure.
