Work has been pretty busy! But yeah rock on!
How are you liking it so far?
Love it
I finally rooted and flashed, Im a man now !
Really buttery smooth, plenty of customization options (mix of AOKP, Paranoid and CM).
Im also toying a lot with Google Now
Im also a fan of the stock Lockscreen, and the new notification panel is nice
The only thing Im really missing is the Sense camera, best Android camera IMO, but I can live without it (and yes I know there are a few Sense based ROMs outthere, but I like the stock UI)
I've noticed 2 little issues though (nothing dramatic):
- I dont see the 4G symbol (3G); does that mean I can connect to 3G only?
- Yesterday before going to bed I let my phone charge overnight; I didn't turn it off (just put it to sleep), but this morning when I woke up the phone was turned off Is it normal? or is it in power saving mode?
Or anti-overheating mode?
Never happened before

Aaah Fido and their wide selection of phones
Always late to the party

Google Now gets old quick... lol
Still somewhat useful if you don't feel awkward talking into your phone.

Agreed. Best Camera Software hands down.

Issue 1 - is a non issue as North American Carriers called HSPA+ "4G". Whereas the rest of the world considers it 3G. The One S is only capable of HSPA+ thus 3G.
Speeds should be the same. Do a speedtest to confirm.
Issue 2 - Could be a variety of things to be honest. Try searching XDA of sleep of death. If anything pops up that might be the problem.
I have a friend with a One S running on CM 10, I'll ask him if he had any similar experiences.

You got a specific date? It would be a killer scoop as MobileSyrup doesn't even have a date.

Hey no! Google Now is great! dont ruin the whole experience for me !!!
Nah I agree its not Earth shattering but still nice
So the One S is 3G capable only?
The 4G logo on stock ROM is a lie ?
**** them carriers
but yeah I'll run a speedtest one day
But I also found this in XDA/One S :

You should see it say 3g when data isn't active, and H+ (which is 4g) when it is active. I'm on Fido in Victoria.
Regarding the SOD, yeah I heard about it; I will keep digging.
And thanks in advance for asking your friend

**** my ex had the nexus s not the google nexus. And I completely forgot it was the nexus s because its been so long and I paid her 160.... I then went to my carrier and my buddy laughed at me and told me it wasnt the phone I thought it was.. SOoooooo I texted her back and she's giving me back $70.
My pc won't recognize my nexus s... I'm trying to mount it to my PC.
Help guys?
"Device drvier was not successfully installed."
Google file CD gadget USB device - device unplugged
At it for two hours now. I don't know if it's my port or not. Because as soon as I plug it in the USB storage connected notification disappears right away...
I uploaded the drivers to my pc. I even did that boatloader thing. And that hasn't worked. Damn frustrating.
**** it was recognized for a bit. Now it won't recognize my phone and saying the drivers aren't installed. I'm going to try one last time.
Okay I'm 99% sure it's the ****ing port. ****. I JUST GOT IT TO WORK. I clicked the removable disk **** and I put my phone down then it reloads the page and it's all gone.
God damn it. I don't know if the phone is broken or not. I'm going to have to ask my brother if this is going to be a quick fix or if he needs to buy parts for the phone.

I don't know how much use this will be, but I had a problem connecting my nexus 10 to my PC to upload movies and music. Drivers would show then disappear, and my device wouldn't show as a mass storage device in windows media player or my files. Ended up going to my drop down settings on the nexus , clicking the USB notification, and flipping from camera storage mode , then back to mass storage mode, and everything showed up. You could try that if you can. I apologize in advance if I'm completely off
For buying a new one outright ($200 to $300), is the Galaxy Nexus still a great phone even today?
Or do you think I should pay a little more and go for something like a Galaxy S 3? Also, I think we're going to do this because my dad doesn't want to lose the unlimited data we currently have with Verizon.

The Galaxy Nexus is a good phone if it's the HSPA+ version and not to gimped Verizon/Sprint version.
I'd go with the Galaxy S III if you were on Verizon or Sprint.
But I get you want to keep unlimited, it would be a decent compromise to taking on a GNex.

I don't get the option "USB Notification," option on the settings menu...
I'm running Jellybean, the only thing resembling "USB" is the "usb debugging" option in the "developer options," menu.
And yes everything you said is happening to my phone, bit more.

If you can deal with horrid battery life on the VZW GNex, it's still a good phone. That said, I have to do a lot to maintain decent battery life on this thing. But it's leaps and bounds a better phone than my Bionic ever was.
So... Bell, Telus, Rogers just dropped their 3 year term pricing on the Note 2 to $99.95...
Now begs my question of why anyone would get an Iphone 5 @ $169.95 vs Note 2 at $99.95 or Galaxy S3 @ $49.95... was grappling with this at work all day...
Received the DNA for my birthday and I have to say that I'm enjoying the phone tremendously. This may be because it's actually a great phone or just because I'm upgrading from a Droid X. Either way, I'm a tad overwhelmed with all the customization I'll have to do. I haven't done anything to my X after getting it perfect 2 years ago. I'm rusty
BTW, I'm really digging the sound quality through ear buds. Maybe there is something to Beats after all.
