Not really fair considering both are in their 3rd year in the WHL and Pulock has 50 games more in development.... Subway series was a good display of how much more naturally talented Rielly is. He carried the devensive and offensive load on that pairing, and id like to think im not biased.

Also not fair considering they play different style of games.

They're both offensively dynamic defence with average to solid d-zone skills...

did I just read correctly. Silvertips D-man Murray out with a shoulder injury? no reports as to the seriousness of the injury yet?

I think Rielly is player who is much more nifty with the puck and can make moves in tight and likes doing so.

Pulock plays alot more simply and I disagree he is average to solid in the d-zone. I think he is excellent defensively; great gap control and always pressuring the opponents.

I disagree with reports saying Pulock is dynamic offensively, I think he is just an elite thinker, and that allows him to make smart choices in every zone he is in. However, he isn't dynamic like Rielly is.

Can someone explain to me how this guy isn't thought of as a surefire top 5 pick? He seems to have it all. Is the draft really this good that he could fall out of the top ten?

Pulock and Rielly are very different players, which is exceptionally obvious when you see them both play. Pulock has a better shot, is better defensively, and is more physical. Rielly is a better skater, a better puck handler, a better puck mover, and just a more shifty and dynamic offensive player in general. I think they're both going to be very good dmen in the NHL, but they aren't particularly similar in terms of the way they play the game.

Almost nobody is considered a surefire top 5 pick in this draft. There are just so many good prospects: MacKinnon, Jones, Barkov, Drouin, Monahan, Lindholm, Nichushkin, Ristolainen, Shinkaruk, Lazar, Morrissey, Zadorov, Nurse, etc. I'm starting to think that Pulock is becoming a highly likely top 10 pick, but top 5 will still be tough, just because there's so much competition for those spots.

Yes it could. This draft class is just something special. With players like Mackinnon, Jones, Barkov, Monahan, Lindholm, Drouin, Shinkaruk, Ristolainen, Nichuskin etc..Real hard to predict where any players could fall since every team will have different lists. The only guys I can't see outside top 5 are Mackinnon and Jones, maybe Barkov.

Well this top 5 is hard to crack in with guys like Mak, Jones, Barkov, Monahan, Drouin/Lindholm.

But yea he is there. I really like him and am laughing at the thought of him dropping to 15 (as so many scouts think he might). As far as Im concerned, he has very low risk, and medium/ high reward.

Good size, excellent IQ, good defense, excellent shot, accurate passing, good positioning and nice reach, great character and maturity. I know he wasnt the best defenseman in the first WHL Subway Series game but the guy was playing with older top 10 picks and he wasnt the worst imho.

Maybe the only thing that he could boost is his physicality but I wouldnt say thats a weakness. His stickhandling isnt that good either, but his game doesnt involve it so its a nonfactor personally. Also not that creative, but again, not his game. I hope burke is able to get another top 15 pick if this guy makes it there. I can see him as an effective nhl'er.

Very strong November for Pulock and what we feel was the best out of draft eligibles of his position.

Quote:
Pulock scored twice and assisted on five others while registering a plus-8 rating in eight games in November. Second in scoring amongst defensemen in the WHL, the six-foot-one, 211-pound Pulock has nine goals and 25 points in 24 games this season.

Anyone know why he's been missing games? He's missed 6 straight according to the WHL website.

Where would he slot in last year draft compared to the other defensemen?

Ahead or Murray, Rielly, Dumba, Trouba...?

I would take him ahead of Rielly, Reinhart, Dumba, and Trouba but a step below Murray.

Agreed, this is exactly what I thought of him after the SSS game.

I'd have him on Rielly's level. A step below Murray, and above the others. He's a completely different style of dman than those guys though

Great heads-up play and rush by Pulock, he looked a lot like Karlsson on that play.

I am close to putting him 2nd on my WHL list behind Jones, but ahead of both Shinkaruk and Lazar.

RS.

IMO Pulock will be a top 10 pick and the isles have a good chance of being in the top 10.

The isles dont have a dynamic offensive dman like Pulock and he would round out thier D core.

How do you think his game and Reinharts game would be if paired together? Thanks
