Mo and Pettitte are back, but the Yankees lost Russell Martin to the Pirates. That's going to hurt.

Wright has signed the deal.. Should keep him here for his career he will own every single Met offensive record (aside from steals and triples) and will be the first life long Met.. I'm so happy they got this deal done.

Quote:
David Wright can count on spending the rest of his career with the Mets after reaching agreement on an eight-year contract worth $138 million to remain the Face of the Franchise, according to major league sources.

The deal, first reported by WFAN, is subject to Wright passing a physical and ends a saga that carried on for several weeks, beginning with general manager Sandy Alderson's visit to Wright in October to make his sales pitch.

The extension will carry Wright, who turns 30 this month, through 2020 and give the Mets a cornerstone on which to build.

It's a very fair deal for both sides.

I was hoping it would be Travis d'Arnaud and Anthony Gose but it looks like it will be Arencibia and Gose. I really think d'Arnaud is going to be a really special player.

The first name that came to my mind was d'Arnaud. I would do him for Dickey straight up to have the chance of getting an elite catcher.

I'd be fine with trading Dickey for d'Arnaud straight up.

It all comes down to Toronto's management. I think it would be stupid to trade d'Arnaud considering Dickey has stated he wouldn't sign an extension there.

Also I'm pretty sure Toronto has said they don't plan on trading him. If the Mets were to get a catcher from there it'd probably be Arencibia.

They can get a better return than Arencibia in my opinion.

Dickey for d'Arnaud is the talk. Expect more players involved.

I think the Mets will get Snydergaard and flip him (maybe w/ another prospect) for a good outfielder. He is a few years away and the Mets have a lot of depth in pitching.

Who knows, they have shown to be patient with pitching prospects.

Mike Puma ‏@NYPost_Mets
Noah Syndergaard, who pitched at Single-A last year, is the pitcher the Mets have discussed getting back from Jays.

Mike Puma ‏@NYPost_Mets
So to recap, Dickey, Thole and another player to Jays for d'Arnaud, Buck, Syndergaard and another player was on table this morning.

Mike Puma ‏@NYPost_Mets
should have said "possibly" Thole in that previous Tweet.
The deal rumored looks like the Mets are getting d'Arnaud, John Buck, a pitching prospect (most likely Snydergaard), and maybe Adam Lind for R.A. Dickey, Thole, and Ike Davis.

Where have you heard Ike Davis? I've been following this very closely on all the beat writers twitter feeds and have been working all day listening to wfan and have not heard his name mentioned once. It makes absolutely no sense to include Ike Davis in this deal.. All I've read was it was Dickey maybe thole and another player (possibly a prospect).

Ike Davis also? That would be a terrible deal.

There was speculation on the baseball thread that seven total players were involved with three going to the Jays and four coming back to the Mets. Some posters threw out names like Davis and Lind.

I'm on my phone and twitter won't let me copy and paste but if you check Joel Sherman just tweeted that the deal is:

Dickey/thole/prospect (not elite)

For

D'arnaud buck snydergaarden and prospect (not elite)

Doubtful. AA doesn't let that many leaks happen in his dealings and there is no way he's paying that much for Dickey.

The deal is pending a Dickey two year extension.

If I had to guess the deal would be Dickey, Thole, Flores for d'Arnaud, Snydergaard, Buck & some nothing prospect brought in for the hell of it.

and I'd do cartwheels all night. getting TDA & Noah Snydergaard for Dickey & Flores is a very good trade. Flores has a very high ceiling, but has no future with the Mets. Dickey is probably the greatest man on the face of the planet, but he's 38 and knuckleball or not, he can't be relied on come 2015 when this team is ready to start winning.

Boy if Wheeler, Harvey & Snydergaard all reach their potential, then this could be one of the best rotations in baseball.

GET IT DONE OMAHHHHHHHHH. (alderson)
