Just sign him at 1.5m for 3 year and trade him ??? Huet have a great valor , why don't using it ? Aebischer can do a very good job and with Danis as his second , its will be a good duo . Huet is just a half-season man , and Aebischer has does good thing during his career . Its will be more safety if we do that . What we will do if Huet can't rest the same goalie has the season ?

Huet + Zednik + Ribs for Vinny (Fair trade)
What do you think ?
If only all teams will take our garbage (Zednik and Ribs) and give us good players in return...a la NHL 06. Huet does't have the value yet to bring in a player like Vinny.
Huet has better value between our posts and Aebischer should be the one that is traded.

Gee, thanks now you spoiled it .Feaster knows what Huet really is and he will have to say no to the trade. And to think we were this close to get it done.
Next time , keep these things for yourself.

I've posted this before. You can't really just sign a pending UFA and then trade him. It just doesn't make much sense, or work.
There are two ways one could conceivably do it:
1) You sign Huet, as if everything is normal, before he tests the market. Huet wants to stay in Montreal. He gives you a fair demand. Then, out of nowhere, you trade him away. This totally stabs Huet in the back, and sends a bad message to any UFA thinking of Montreal.
2) You let Huet know before hand that he will be dealt, then sign him. Why should Huet sign here (and for less than market value at that) and not know where he's going, when he could wait till July 1st, listen to all offers, and pick where he wants to play?
Thats what I say, because if we sign Huet 3-4 years and he becomes a 1 year fluke, were screwed and won't be able to trade him just like the Ruins are stuck with Raycroft
Aebischer has never displayed amazing talent consistently like Huet has, and Huet has only been in the spotlight for half a season, unlike Aebischer's 3 or 4 years as a starter in Colorado. He was the reason why the Avs were in a goaltending crisis at the start of the season, putting huge presure on Budaj and Kolesnik, guys who have never played at such a high level. He picked it up after a while, but a ''starting goalie'' shouldn't put his team (as good as the Avs) in such a desperate situation.
The only thing about Huet that worries me is his age (but Aebischer is only 2 or 3 years younger than him) and his knee. That's a serious injury for a goaltender, it must be ok now considering he wasn't re-injured since coming back, but a major knee injury is still a factor.
Anyways, trade Aebischer while his value is at it's peak (trust me, it won't go any higher).

If you sign Huet as if everything is normal, you are a bad manager. This would be compared to Hossa who opted not to test his UFA value this summer and stay with Ottawa before the Sens traded him without notice.
Huet is a 30yo man, so you simply sit down with him and let him know about the trade. Better yet, you ask Feaster what offer he would like to make and ask Huet about it. These things can be done with class, and could be part of the deal, if there ever is one. Forget about sending a bad message to free agents, we can act in such a way that it all stay totally respectful of Huet and the Habs.

Why would Huet sign with the habs to be traded immediately after, when he could simply sign with another club after July 1st?
