Monarchs lose again 4-2 to the Portland Pirates (coyotes). The team seems to be incapable of playing 60 minutes of hockey.

They got an over 5 1/2 hour bus ride now to Glenn Falls, NY to play the Phantoms tomorrow night.

Followed by a 3 1/2 hour bus ride back to Manchester to play the Falcons sunday afternoon.

I don't have Direct TV so I can't answer taht. It's not on CSN Philly (MY error) it's on the Comcast Sports Net channel.

0-0 after 1 period.
Phantoms dominated early , Clune and Rinaldo had a fight, Monarchs got 2 Power plays, moved the puck good on one (very nice 5 pass tic tac toe , all players touched the puck , Vey almost scored). Monarchs just killed off (very nicely done) A Phantoms PP to end the first (Muzzin in the box, holding)
Vey looked good, as did Kozun.
Mannino made a few nice saves.
Monarchs seemed to pick up the pace the last half of the period, hopefully that will carry over.

Second period update (14 minutes gone)
1-0 Monaarchs (Vey on a great play, deke and goal from Pearson and Toffoli)

Monarchs dominating, buzzing all over, blockings shots, quick out passes, really playing well and had some decent chances (Heeter made a couple really good saves)
Kozun had a great chance, point blank on a sweet feed from Loki from behind the net.
And Clune just had one disallowed (high stick), one yet another giveawy/turnover by the Phantoms,. Unless Couturier or Wellwood is on the ice, the Phantoms struggle in their end. Couturier is really great defensively, such instincts...\

Vey just scored and he deserves it , very strong game. Nice play by Pearson to set it up.

It went in off a high stick, Clune hit the puck and his stick was above the crossbar.

UPDATE 2-1 PHantoms after 2. Monarchs played well, but couldn't cash in on the many turnovers by the Phantoms. Testuwide with 2 goals, the second came with 30 seconds left on a PP (Kozun took dumb penalty after the whistle)_.

Vey had a nice play where he put pressure on stole the puck and went in alone ,but didn't score. He's really played well tonight.

FINAL 3-2 Monarchs
Pearson and Vey had strong games.

Odd call with 13 seconds left, goalie pulled, Phantoms pressing and Monarchs shoot it out andthe ref blows the whislte for icing before the playres or puck arrive, sure enough the Monarchs got there ahead and the icing should not have been called. Monarchs coach was really pissed, even afte rthe game was over, he was still yakking aobut it to the ref. He had a valid argument. that last faceoff gave the PHantoms a chance to tie the game.

Legein missed the empty net twice.

Kings have some really good young forwards that is what all succesful teams need to cultivate and draw upon when needed.
Phantoms (thru years of bad trades and drafts) don't have that at all. They are pretty threadbare that way.

Terry Murray won't be happy with this one, way too may giveaways and poor play by the players in their own zone. They were lucky it was only 3-2.

Wow how great has Pearson been lately? Another two points on the day for him. He's on fire...up to 15 points in 25 games on the year after having only two in I think 11 games.

Finally! Monarchs reverse the trend and come back to win in the 3rd! Guys had a lot of energy tonight. Which was great to see considering the long bus ride after last nights game.

Co-sign on Pearson he been fantastic of late! That line of Pearson-Vey-Toffoli has been a real bright spot this season.

Manchester's kid line seems to be the most consistent offensive contributors thus far. Glad to see that the youngest kids are developing their offensive game in the farm.

yes nice to see that a late '93 born is doing well in a men's league. That means a lot more to me than putting up many points in juniors.

Tanner Pearson is a late 1992 born, not -93. Also Toffoli and Weal are born 1992.

Monarchs lose again 3-2 in a shoot out to the Springfield Falcons. Monarchs played a really solid game and had a lead with less the 7 minutes to go but where unable to hold the lead. However they were horrendous in the shootout! Pearson, Czarnik, Cliche, & Vey all couldn't get the puck on net and Martin Jones is consistly awful in the shootout.

Goals by Hickey & Kozun

highlights and post game interviews with Morris and Kozun

Could that be that new rule were a close icing call can be called early to ensure the safety of the players and in this instance it was just horribly used? I thought the NHL was thinking about implementing that a year or two ago and most of those go through testing in the AHL first.

That's the new rule that is being testing once again in the AHL....occasionally the officials miss the call!

If this is true, it's stupid and a waste of time....

The rule that officials miss calls isn't new, it has been in the NHL already for a long time
