To answer your question, probably quite a bit. They'd probably want our 1st and more, teams are pretty unwilling to move players they just drafted, especially first rounders.

As a question to you, why would you have interest in him? I get that he's a big body, but there's already a huge logjam in Edm on the Right side, with Eberle, Yakupov, Hemsky, Jones for next season, then you've got Rieder, Pitlick, and Pelss down the road.

Probably one of the big 4.

Who's Tom Wilson anyway?

Wilson's a recent mid-1st rounder. What sort of response were you expecting? Curtis Hamilton and a 2nd?

I would take MPS. Backstrom and Johasson, then Forsberg will be there will make things comfortable for MPS.

Some Caps fans though like the whole fighting crap. I just look at it as a 5 minutes of lines being screwed up.

Wilson is of the same mold as Lucic. It would be advantageous for the Caps to have a physically intimidating player that isn't relegated to the 4th line. Who is the most physically intimidating player in the caps top 9? Ovechkin, hands down, and he should be shooting the puck, not concentrating on hip checks like has in recent years.

Except Lucic was a 30 goal scorer in junior and then a 30 goal scorer in the NHL.

I think Wilson has similar intangibles, but there is not much to suggest he will be as good offensively as Lucic.

He has yet to score 10 goals in a junior season.

I like his game though.

Obviously he's a project, but we drafted him at 16th overall because we don't have anyone else even close to him in our prospect pool. No reason to trade him.

He really isn't. Lucic has some hockey sense, Wilson has none at all.

This seems pretty accurate.

They are tough to find if you don't draft them, and since everyone wants one you tend to have to draft them higher than you would like.

This.

You don't draft a guy like Wilson higher than expected to deal him away before he even plays for you....

Lucic scored 9 goals in his draft year.

And then scored 30 goals the year after.

Wilson has 7 so far this year, he might not even get to 15. Heck, even Mitch Moroz had 16 goals in his draft year, and people are already writing that pick off for the Oilers as a brutal pick.

He has a lot to prove to show he has as much offensive potential.

He is a project though, the Caps have plenty of time to wait on him.

Wilson for Paajarvi isn't that bad. Paajarvi seems to be molding into a Darren Helmish 3rd liner. Fast, but defensively responsible.

But Edmonton badly needs a guy like Wilson. Yes, they drafted Moroz and Khaira but Wilson is way more NHL ready.

Definitely won't happen. The Oilers desperately need Smid. Without Smid the defense would have been way worse.
