I seriously hope that I have a job to go back to tomorrow.
Here's a recap.
I have FMLA for 2 different medical reasons, one of them being related to a Heart Condition that I have.
On Friday, 12/7/12, I left work early using FMLA for that reason. I called my cardiologist and they wanted to set up a brief checkup for Monday, 12/10/12, so I had to use FMLA for that as well.
Well, the checkup was fine, nothing wrong whatsoever.
Cue to Tuesday. Throughout the day Monday I had been experiencing some flu-like symptoms, but according to my home thermometer, I wasn't running a temperature. I wake up Tuesday, 12/11/12 and my symptoms have worsened. So I make an appointment with my regular physician. I go in and when they check my temperature there, I'm running a high fever! (stupid home thermometers!)
So he gives me a RX and actually forewarns me about one of the side effects that tends to happen most, increased nausea and potential vomiting, and says it's best to take it with something like crackers, bread/toast, etc. And tells me that I'd need to take off that day (Tuesday 12/11/12) and the following day, Wednesday. So I do that, but by the next day the flu-like symptoms are worse, I figure that it's the side effects, so I let it go, continue my medicine.
Thursday comes around, and the symptoms/side effects are worse, I call in to my Dr's office and get his head nurse, she tells me to take off Thursday, come in and get an updated Dr's note for my employer, and I'm on my way.
Friday comes in, and my fever has returned, and the symptoms/side effects are a little bit worse than the day before. So I call in again, and they said since it was 2 days in a row with the worsening side effects to stop taking that anti-biotic and get to pickup a newer RX, a higher dosage, and to not go into work because the fever returned and I may be contagious.
Today I had off anyway...What's strange is that we did test for the Flu, I don't have it, but I was running fever, constant nose-blowing, sore throat, and the other stuff that goes w/ the Flu.
But that totals 6 total days missed, although 2 of them were FMLA related, the other 4 will count as "One Absence" at my employer because of my Dr's note (their policy).
But I am just hoping that they're not truly pissed at me...it's not as if I am preferring to not be at work, not getting paid and such (I'm out of sick pay because in 2012 I missed time with a back injury)
