He is FA after next year ,, If you think he is so bad then you should be happy with him at QB for a year under rebuild and then he is gone

He should but the playoff apperance bought him a little extra rope

If the Lions flop again next season he will for sure be gone

IF he sucks so much you have him play out his final year (yr 1 of your rebuild) and then go with some rookie QB in yr 2

Your idea of getting rid of him and bringing in Alex Smith because Smith is cheap option for rebuild makes no sense

Cutler is only under contract for 1 year ,, Thus bringing in Smith wouldn't be needed

i thought Smith was signed through next year like cutler. and the only idea there was to get an nfl quality qb so the team is at least watchable. not sure there are any andrew luck/rg3 type guys coming out any time soon that are worth tanking a season for. i also don't think the mccaskeys would be okay with that any way

If your rebuilding there is no point in having a quality QB (Smith is not) ,, Cutler is better then Smith so not sure what you are thinking

Also Smith is not that cheap

Smith is signed for 2 more years at 7.5M per (With some bonus's that could push it to 9M per)

Cutler is signed 1 more year at about 8.2M with some bonus that could push it to 10M

In a sick way, I can see Ken Wisenhunt getting canned, and us getting him on the cheap.

And no, I'm not saying that as something I want to see happen, it just seems like a very Bears kind of thing to do.

Oh he for sure is fired

And no way do I want him ,, Warner was only reason the Cards didn't suck

Wisenhunt has been exposed without Warner

Also if you get rid of Cutler you have to get rid of Marshall since Cutler is one of the things that Marshall says keep his life stable off field

They are basically a package deal at this point

So Bears would be back at square one searching for quality QB and #1 WR ,,, Only took us 60+ years to get that combo ,, Guess we could wait another 60

again you didn't read my post. i was throwing out a name of a guy who's nfl quality and i thought we could get at a substantial saving to cutler for a few years after his contract ran out. Smith was just the first name that popped into my head who i thought fit the criteria. and reading this thread, cutler its hands down the most overrated qb in the league.

With all playoff contenders winning this week, I'm not thinking we make playoffs anymore.

Flacco , Rivers and others are easily more overated

Wow ,, Big Ben just avoided like 6 sacks and threw TD to Miller

If Bears did blow it up

Then trading Cutler + Marshall to KC for there 1st would make only sense.

Bears get high 1st (Possibly #1) ,, Chiefs get a QB and would be able to make Bowe happy and give them legit 1-2 WR combo that could be best in NFL

Thru all this negative talk/times for Bears one thing must be applauded

Corey Wootton ,, This guy came into year buried #4 on DE depth chart and he has worked his way up to primary opposite Peppers on passing downs and he has been playing more then Idonije lately and has 7 sacks on years along with 2 forced fumbles

Melton/Wootton have been promising

And the Bears 1st round pick would of course be a bust.

Why not?

Chiefs want a QB in round 1 but aren't happy with the prospects this year (Been said by most experts it is weak year at QB)

They have the run game to contend with Charles but they have no QB (One issue that has made Bowe unhappy)

Cutler + Marshall fills a hole at QB and gives Bowe another threat opposite him to burn defenses

For Bears getting high pick = Teo and would see them begin a true rebuild by selecting another athletic MLB (Like Urlacher)

If Bears dump Cutler the only scenario that would at all make sense for Bears to do it would be to get an offer like that

And Marshall wont work out in Chicago with no Cutler

And to point to futility of Chiefs ,, They currently have 14 yds of total offense

They have passed ball 14 times and ran ball only 5 times

Brady Quinn is QB ,, No reason for Chiefs to abandon run and start passing only down 9-0

It would be Geno Smith or Luke Joeckel... Only other guys worth considering are on the defensive line, and that's the one spot we wouldn't need to use the #1 overall pick at.

What the hell are you talking about? Most talking heads have him going #1 overall... yet you think he won't go in the first round?
