with the injurys of assistant captain Shawn Matthias and front line forward peter Mueller the panthers need some forward depth...

offer there 2014 1st round draft pick and 2 minor league checkers for bench warmers Nikolai Kulemin and Tim Connolly. This gives toronto salary room and an additional 1st round pick in the draft.

offer former 3rd overall pick Erik Gudbrandon for russian power forward Artem Anisimov.

as for i would look at a deal involving Bernier with a package of Markstrom and a left handed forward like Scottie Upshall for Bernier. Markstroms a good young goalie but 78 is too low of an overall for my starting goalie, i would give you Markstrom as your new back up goalie and a decent left handed veteran who can score and play solid in his own zone in Scottie Upshall. Also Marcel Goc is a veteran center who is left handed and has a cheaper salary... If salary is the issue for you, you can offer me a salary dump in return. But dont bother trying to include left handed forwards such as Huberdeau Bergenheim and Kopecky in the deal because im planning on keeping them around.

He didn't give fleury away very cheap. Backstrom-87, fleury -85. Already dropped 2 ratings points in 1 season and has 2 season left under contract. I doubt between this and next season fleury a rating will exceed that of backstrom, so a pretty good deal for Pittsburgh here

CBJ lineup is already dramatically improved after just one season. Not to mention the glut of top prospects. If even half develop properly the Jackets could turn around real quick. Great job Malakian

I agree this trade wasn't a steal by any means, but in my mind it was well worth it as Backstrom is entering the deterioration/retirement phase...and there is no way I was losing my starting goalie for nothing in return.

It's a small step backwards short term, but one I'm very pleased with considering the circumstances. Fleury is 7 years younger, not to mention 1.5M cheaper and 3 inches taller. I'm building for long-term success and feel I'm helping to accomplish that goal with this deal.

I've always had fleury as a backup I like vokuns style way more backstrom is always nice to have for a back up or a good goalie to trade in a deal for some players. Crosby and Malkin sweepstakes are still going

I need to unload some salary. Thornton, Boyle and Marleau are all OTB.

My needs are a better goalie and some depth on forward.

I just offered you the young offensive star Peter Mueller and up and coming anchor d man Erik Gudrandson for your captain Joe Thornton... If you think its a rip look at Muellers stats and his potential is still there.

Shortly after stepping in as GM for the Pittsburgh Penguins I've decided to make a couple big trades in hopes to give the team a good Stanley Cup run.

exchange
Tomas Vokoun (87) HYB
Evgeni Malkin (91) PLY
Pittsburgh - 2014 - 3rd

to

for
Patrick Marleau (88) SNP
Marc-Edouardo Vlasic (84) DFD
Alex Stalock (80) HYB
T.J. Galiardi (82) TWF

I did this trade hoping to give us some depth on our lower lines and to give Crosby a scorer to play alongside him and some defensive power to the second line. I later decided to spark up another trade with the San Jose Sharks.

exchange
Matt Niskanen (83)

to

for
Tom Kostopoulous (73) GRN
Adam Burish (73) GRN
San Jose - 2015 - 1st

I did the second trade so I could get some grinders as depth on my 3rd & 4th line as I had two defensemen playing on those lines from the previous GM. I figured since I gained Vlasic from the other trade I could trade Niskanen away for depth and a depth draft pick while building good relations with the San Jose Sharks.

Both deals approved in game.

Welcome to the league and to the boards. It was a pleasure doing business with you.

Couture is now OTB.

Looking for 2 top 6 wingers.

are looking to move Andy Mac , looking to get younger for our depth winger positions as Andy is currently # 4 on our LW depth chart. Picks/prospects or a younger bottom 6 forward with potential for a 2nd liner in the future
