Star Wars... meh.

Wanted to see the Hobbit again tonight, but wasn't going to unless my buddy who hasn't yet went. I like LotR better than Star Wars. Star Wars is okay, but I enjoy the lore and fantasy in Tolkien's works more. I'm a big fan of Tolkien's written works; the adaptations to film have been very fun and function as cozy, visual retreats that I can turn on any time and enjoy watching and feeling like I'm there.

Prust leaving is also a great thing. That snotty attitude of Prust's.

My girlfriend's brother worked at Hunter for a few winters and we used to just pull off the trails anywhere and do it, but I don't anymore. Haven't for a couple of years, minus maybe... the odd time here or there. If you're going to, the mountain is the place to do it. Feels great to just carve up there after.

Pruster was endearing while he was here, but's he's like half bro half pseudo-high fashion. I never knew how to feel about Prust, but his inability to filter himself during the lockout and think before opening his mouth has made the decision pretty easy for me; not too sore about losing him.

Never got into Lord of the Rings.
Tried watching twice. The first time I fell asleep an hour into the first movie.
The second time I didn't get through the second movie.

There's some great scenes, but sooooooooo much boring walking

I read the books long before, so the movies were good because it was a chance to see it come to life. I could see it being boring if I had seen them first. But if you've read the books, there's really no such thing as "boring walking" in a book. The writing is always engaging; there's always some lore or detail being given, so it's not boring. Loved the books, so the movies are just like a guilty pleasure. Like I said, a cozy three hour vacation from reality.

I put them on if I can't sleep

But like I said, more enjoyable to me because it's seeing the book come to life. I'm in love with the world it takes place in so SEEING it is a treat. The movies themselves can drag, for sure, but I don't watch for the action since I already know everything that's going to happen. I watch because I want to dive into that fiction for a while. It's a retreat.

I usually fall asleep in the first two hours of the fellowship, so mostly the shire and rivendell

Like I said, I put it on when I can't sleep. I don't re-watch the trilogy very often because I've already seen it many, many times, but it's my go to choice if I just want something on in the background to fall asleep to. So that part is cozy. And like I said, having been a fan because of the books first, it's the world itself that I find cozy. The shire, Lorien, etc. I'm a fan, what can I say. But yeah, I'm not turning on the second disc of the two towers to try and take a nap.

Video games frustrate me. I used to be a "gamer" but more and more I can't enjoy even the ones I expect to love. It used to be that there were a good 8-12 games a year that I could get decent entertainment out of and play to completion. Now if there's two of those each year, it's lucky.

It's not that I need that many games to play anymore; don't have the time. It would just be nice to still have a few to enjoy each year. I get bored.

Most recent games I fully enjoyed:

Assassin's Creed III (but couldn't finish it; we'll touch on that in a moment)
Arkham City
Mass Effect 3
Uncharted 3
Uncharted 2
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed II
Uncharted
Arkham Asylum
Mass Effect 2

Seeing a trend? But I couldn't get into Assassin's Creed Revelations (just felt the Ezio story was drawn on too long to keep me in the face of terrible gameplay implements like the tower defense minigames they added) and now I can't finish Assassin's Creed III because of a game breaking glitch in the final sequence that means I can't progress to the final two missions. The only way to get past it would be to start over on a new save. I just have no interest in replaying the whole game even though I really want to see the end of the story.

I've tried so many games that have gotten good reviews (and some that haven't but I just wanted to anyways) and the only ones I've been able to enjoy lately have been Arkham, Uncharted, Assassins and Mass Effect. I used to love video games because, like I was describing with LotR they were like virtual fantasy-land vacations for me, but it just seems like the quality is no longer there for most games. There's an element of story, polish or cohesiveness that just always seems to be missing. I'm sad about it.

(I was prompted to rant about it because I just tried getting around the glitch in Assassin's Creed III for like the 30th time and still nothing; been stuck for like 3 weeks).

... not being able to finish this game has me pretty tight now. It's time for a whiskey. Sunday night, no work tomorrow and super bored since the girlfriend is working on a paper for grad school. At least the Pats are getting slammed. I'll do the same in honor of them continuing to lose.
