Quote:
Though the Angels possibly could acquire a starting pitcher for Bourjos or Trumbo, they also might get a pitching piece back for Morales — and enhance their run prevention by fielding a stellar defensive outfield of Bourjos, Hamilton and Mike Trout, with Trumbo serving as the primary DH.

The Yankees, sources say, are among the possibilities for Wells — the teams discussed him at the winter meetings, and Wells could fill the Yankees’ need for a right-handed hitting outfielder.

To trade Wells, the Angels know that they must assume the vast majority of the $42 remaining on the final two years of his contract. Wells, 34, also has a full no-trade clause, but likely would waive it for the opportunity for more playing time elsewhere.

The Yankees also are looking at free agent Scott Hairston for their remaining opening in the outfield, but Hairston is seeking a two-year contract, sources say. Ichiro was the only free agent to sign a deal of that length with the Yankees this offseason — and only after the Phillies increased his leverage by making him a two-year offer.

Big risk, potentially high reward here for the Blue Jays. This could be the World Series they're trading for. But if they don't win it it's gonna look bad.

Pelfrey might be better served to get out of NY. He sure was inconsistant as hell.

Pirates unveil new throwback-ish alternates to be worn for Sunday home games.

I like em. Nice throwback touch with the pullover instead of button down too.

Beautiful. A huge improvement over the last alternate jersey, which was worn about 80 ****ing damn times last year it felt like.

I love bringing the gold cap back into rotation.

If you talking about the black one I haven't read anywhere that they were getting rid of that. You're allowed to have multiple Alts in the MLB and NBA, unlike the NFL and NHL.

The NBA does have rules about the amount of times you can wear them though. Not sure if the MLB does too.

Love those. It's not over-stating itself, but just a very simple good looking jersey.

In MLB, it's up to the starting pitcher which jersey the team will wear. Unless the alternate jersey is designated for a certain day, like the Giants' orange jersey is only worn at home on Fridays. I think the Braves still wear their home reds on Sundays. But most of the time, alternate jerseys can be worn both at home and on the road. Teams like Texas and Tampa Bay wear their alternates more than their regular home whites and road grays. At least it seems like it.

I'm sorry you have to watch that. I was a siamese twins/jays fan growing up and it hurts to see what they're going into this season with.

lots of balls in play in minnesota this year. worley had the highest k/9 in 2012 at 7.2. and that's trending down.

May be the homer in me, but I had so much faith in Pelfrey turning into a solid pitcher. Big body and what was labled as a hard sinker...But it just never worked out.

Hope he can put it together in Minnesota.

Yeah, I hadn't either...I was just being hopeful.

Those black ones are the best we've had...but they've been worn so excessively that I've grown bored of them. They're fine ~20 times a year, but when they're getting worn a majority of the time (including frequently on the road) it's overkill. Introducing these ones will, at the very least, drastically cut into the frequency of the black jerseys being worn. Hell, even if they just got rid of that stupid and unnecessary white outline around the 'P' I'd like it so much better...but that way there wouldn't be another cap to sell.

Well nothing was worse than the Ronald McDonald ones.

Also I think they're introducing a black hat with a yellow brim as well. I saw it in a template pic in the article I got that from. So that could replace the white outline one unless it was just been the new BP cap or something.

Batting practice hat.

Technically it replaces another hat, but I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone wear the previous batting practice cap. The gold brimmed cap was a solid seller when it was an alternate cap...so it makes sense to bring it back with that ****ing stupid white outline to try to get more non-fans to buy it.

The Pirates sell a disproportionate amount of caps (#7 in cap sales in baseball), so it was only natural that they'd do something like this. At least we still have just one cap for the base home and road jerseys.

Honestly as long as we stick to the primary color scheme I really don't care. There's no red anywhere in any of the jerseys/hats in use for next year, and that's the most important thing. Black and gold is iconic. Black and gold and red is garbage.

Do the Twins know that the rover position doesn't exist in the pros?

They are going to give up a ton of hits.

Anyone else more excited for the baseball season to start up again than the prospect of hockey coming back? Even if the NHL announced a 48 game season I think I would be looking forward more to baseball. Don't get me wrong, hockey is my favorite sport by far, but I'm starting to really sour on the NHL and with all the crazy player movement this offseason in MLB I cant wait till spring.
