I listened to the game. Brian Rogers was chirping everything in the game last night. I want to get a few beer in him and listen to him call another game. XD

Adam Lowry with yet another hatty tonight, his third of the year IIRC. Have been trying to tell you guys that this kid is a legitimate BADASS.

Remember Gump......I started the Jim Peplinski comparison Lowry was drafted 67th Pepper 75th Overall. Pepper 6'3 210 Lowry 6'5 and he'll get to 210 easily. Both off the charts as far as character, glue, team first, gritty players with decent hands.

You win championships with that type of player in the mix.

He's certainly trying to put the boots to whomever decided not to invite him to the WJC camp.

My train of thought when I took a look at the score was "Oh 4-0 win, maybe Lowry got in on a few of the g... **** YEAH"

Yeah, but I was saying it back in September.

Really appreciate the vids and prospect updates guys, I think I'd blow my brains out without this stuff to look forward to. Keep up the good work.

Man, Swift Current PEPPERED Kootenay with shots - they had more shots in the 2nd than Kootenay had all game, and came close to doing the same in the third:

SHOTS123Total
Kootenay Ice461020
Swift Current Broncos12241854

From the Swift Current site:

Quote:
Adam Lowry recorded his third hat trick of the season, played his 200th WHL career game and extended his point streak to 11 games (11G,7A).
He also got 1st Star of the game. EDIT: one final little tidbit: he's 1 pt away from matching his point totals from the last FULL season he played (66 games, vs 37 games so far this year). Impressive.

So, we looking at another year of Lowry in the WHL, or is he soon eligible to star on the rock?

He's 19 now, so he can play in the AHL next year, for sure. I'm sure he'll get a call-up to the A if the 'Caps make the playoffs this year, and Swift Current is out of the playoffs.

Lowry's a 93, so he is eligible to go to St. John's next year...provided he is signed.

He was not signed as of the lockout date. Lowry, D Zachery Yuen and RW Austen Brassard all require contracts by June 1, 2013 (as of the old CBA, of course they cannot be signed (or lost) during the lockout). All are eligible for AHL next. Interesting note, is that 2012 draft pick Lukas Sutter, as a late birthday, is also eligible for the AHL next season, however he does not need to be signed by the Jets until June 1, 2014.

The way Brassard has fallen off, I wonder if he will get a serious look?

Have to think Sutter gets sent back to the O for another year. Can he find his offence?

Lowry and Telegin on the left side should be fun for the fans out East.

Whenever I watch Broncos games I play "spot the Lowry", I always win because he's massive and has the puck half the time.

Brassard doesn't get signed, IMO.

If* Sutter heads back to WHL for his overage season, write him off. He's done as an NHL prospect. I can count on one hand how many guys who play their overage year become NHLers, it's a bad bad terrible almost guaranteed end of the road sign for a prospect. 90% end up in CIS hockey, nevermind pro at all.

I agree 100%

It kills me to think that draft pick could be all but a write off already.

I wanted Bozon or Frk or Bystrom or Prokhorkin (although he went in the 4th and is stuck in crazy contract limbo) in that slot. None of them are sure things, but Bozon and Frk look good and none of the others are write offs.

Its barely half way through December. Sutter could still go on a tear and put up ppg for rest of season. Not unheard of for a prospect to get really hot after new years.

I'm not saying Sutter is a bust or anything, btw. I missed the IF. If he fails to make pro hockey at 20 (next year), he might as well be a bust, IMO. Very few players manage to put together a career at that point after getting sent to junior as an overager.

Stupid hindsight.

All the same intangibles that the Jets liked in Sutter are in Sissons and one is having a far better season and progression than the other.

If Winnipeg wants to draft like Nashville, they should start looking a little closer.

Didn't guys like Eberle and Giroux play two more seasons in junior after being drafted?

I think it's the late birthday, with Sutter. If they send him back, he's an overage player and quite likely falls behind other prospects.

The only thing going for Sutter, if this can be considered a plus, is he likely tops out as a 4th line banger anyway, so if he can play that role without taking stupid penalties, he might still get a look. But there's no chance he would be considered anything more than that, imo.

I liked Sissons more than Sutter going into the draft, but he likely won't be more than a 3rd line winger, at best, imo. There's still a pretty decent chance, he doesn't make the NHL at all.

So drafting based on lineage sometimes works, and some feel there's less risk. But you never know with prospects. Jimmy Roy may have his hands full getting Sutter back on track.

I just think it was a bad move in general. Using a high 2nd on a guy whose ultimate ceiling was as a 3rd line centre.
