Oh, maybe. Thats the pessimistic scenario but you know very well its not a certainty that he won't bounce back to a decent level. I'm not optimistic enough to claim Bourque is going to be a great player for us but its quite possible he'll be useful at the very least, just being a 20g/20a player is good enough for a complementary top9 forward.
Going back to Gally its pretty clear imho he could be good at the NHL level if a hypothetical half season started soon but people predicting him to be over a PPG so quick are far too optimistic. I think he'd go 0.5ppg in ideal conditions.

And that would be great. But they're still pretty good chances that he gets more, imo. I mean, who would have thought that after 10-15 games that he would be 1 away from Strome before WJC? Point is, he could surprise if their is a season the same way he did in the OHL.
Yes, but the rule on burning a year off may change, so it'd be hard to say for sure.
It seems unlikely it would go from 10 games to 40+ before the year is burned off. The PA has no reason to accept that.
Maybe they increase it a bit though.

This reminds me. Fitting in Subban+Galchenyuk is very hard to do if Gomez is still on the cap, even with a 70 M cap for this year. Especially if there's no bonus cushion in the new CBA (and obviously no amnesty clause)...
Gally will make a strong case for the MVP award in the OHL. He's unbelievable. He dominates his league outrageously and is ready for the NHL. However, I would let him finish the season in the OHL. Let him try to dominate the OHL playoff and bring him back next year for a full season. The team is better the worst it is. If there a season, we should tank for a other high pick, bring more talent in Montreal. Gally would make the Habs better. But Not Top 5 pick better. Montreal is not even close on being a contender, so let's not burn a year just to see Galchenyuk in a Habs uniform sooner.
A 27 goal scorer as a 13th forward? That's not realistic at all. Bouqrque had a crappy end of season like A LOT of our guys, including Plekanec. Add to that Armstrong being a much better player with the puck than Moen or even Prust.
I like your lineup (and I'm one of those who wants to separate the DD line...at least just for a short while to try other trios...spread the talent/wealth/talented power forwards,etc...and you could always reunite them later...but I could be ok with the DD line, but I also want to be fair to Plekanec...I think Pleks can only be happy playing with Galchenyuk...and Pleks and Gionta could be great mentors for Galchy... not sure Pleks would be happy playing with Bourque unless Bourque plays the way he can like he did 2-3 seasons ago).

No reason imo to break up the pac dd cole line unless it starts to fail.
For example, Galchenyuk might be in a better position to succeed on that line as it goes up against easy minutes. He would not be in a position to succeed on the Plekanec line, which is a shutdown line.
Pushing one of those two wingers down would then balance the lineup.
Try:
Galchenyuk-Desharnais-Cole, pure offense against easy minutes
Paciorett-Plekanec-Gionta, two-way line against elite minutes
Prust-Eller-Bourque, two-way line against intermediate minutes
Armstrong-Noke-Moen, energy line against weakest minutes
spares: White, Gomez

Unless you're planning on repeating the same mistakes, we should split our two PFs and find more balance from our top 6 at least.
Bourque's problem is not talent it is effort. He signed his long term contract and dropped off the map statistically. I suppose it is possible he'll start playing but I don't have much hope until he's in the last year of his contract. Interviews from Calgary suggested that he's the poster boy for a series of 1 year deals.

Huh? This line actually saved the team from the 30th place in the league. You can't be serious by suggesting they've been a liability more than an asset. The problem was that beyond this line, nothing was working. Price played good but couldn't bail the whole team out a second season in a row. The defence is not good at all. As much as I like P.K., you know you're in big trouble if he's your best defenceman. He should be the 2nd or 3rd best on a good team as of now. Supporting cast was subpar with secondary scorers like Rene Bourque doing absolutely nothing. Plekanec didn't provide enough offensive support, 3rd and 4th line aren't gritty and don't wear down the opposition enough.
The whole team is the reason it finished 28th. The first line was the only bright spot and you want to break it down?
