You want Patches, you make an offer. If all you have to offer is spare parts that Montreal doesn't want, then let me quote your very own words and "get the hell out of here."
Montreal is not in the business of building a team for Edmonton. If your gm can't build his own team, then get another gm.
Haha...overreact much? Those weren't actually my words though...they were Mr.Fuss's.
I might have low balled with Hemmer and Paajarvi...but Max won't get you a Yakupov return IMO.
I'll tell Steve you send your condolences.

If I were a Habs fan there's no way I'd say yes to Paccioretty for Yakupov right now. Yakupov hasn't played a game.
That's more then fair enough to say, Habs fan or not. Depends on how you value a proven asset like Max, compared to the potential of a 1st overall pick yet to play an NHL game. I for one think it would be foolish to trade Yakupov straight up based on his potential.
I wouldn't do it, but how close is the value for the heck of it?
Montreal
Oshie/Perron
Stewart
Rattie/Jaskin
St. Louis
Pacioretty
Gorges
1st
So not only do we downgrade from Patches to Oshie/Perron, we also have to give up a first and one of the best defensive D in the league for your expendable assets?

of course because on HF trade boards potential always trumps factual reality and proof
I am extremely interested to know what you feel this young fellow is worth in a trade.
No team will realistically pay what it takes to get him. Only way these kinds of trades happen is if the current team wants to dismantle their core and go in a totally different direction (ala Carter/Richards) or if the player has problems with the team.
No team will pay enough to make it worth Montreal moving Paccioretty.

2000: DiPietro (Heatley)
2001: Kovalchuk
2002: Nash
2003: Fleury (Staal)
2004: Ovechkin
2005: Crosby
2006: Erik Johnson
2007: Patrick Kane
2008: Steven Stamkos
2009: John Tavares
2010: Taylor Hall
Looking at the last 10 years of draft, I'd be surpsied if Yakupov doesn't end up better than Pacioretty. The first forward taken in the last 10 years ended up being a tier or two above Pacioertty. First overall nowadays are almost guaranteed superstars.
Of course you would. You're essentially calling Max a franchise player. He's a great complimentary player that any team would love to have, but he's not gonna get you that big of a return IMO.

I would offer Hemsky + Paajarvi though.
Great. As long as you give us Hall for Gallagher and Gionta. Let me know when to sign the papers...
Ok, guys, seriously. If you are trying to get the best young power forward on a team, a great team guy who has already proven he can get 30 goals and 65 points, then you have to offer real significant value. You atually have to offer the type of value most teams do not want to give up to get him. It would be like asking for Nugent-Hopkins, one of the Sedins, Evander Kane, etc... There is no point to this and it is only going to become a worse pissing match than it already has.
Yakupov is not going to get you Pacioretty because he is smaller than we want, has concussion issues, and would be playing against the Bruins on a regular basis! If Yakupov received concussions playing against boys, I do not want to see what will become of him when he starts to get smashed around by Chara, Lucic, Thornton, McQuaid, etc...
Montreal has a great young power forward who plays with heart. If you have nothing similar or better to offer, don't bother playing. Hemsky and fricking Paajarvi...give me a ******* break.
