The Springfield Falcons announced Modnay they have signed veteran left wing Chris Collins to a professional try-out (PTO). The Falcons also revealed that they have recalled left wing Wade MacLeod from their ECHL affiliate, the Evansville IceMen, and that goaltender Allen York has been reassigned to Springfield by Columbus from Evansville.
Is Dainton hurt? Doesn't seem to be any playing time.
i think (and Katy can, and will correct me) we're gonna see more of a split of time b/t York and McSomethingSomething...keep him rested and give York some better time while still getting back from his latest injury.
York is supposedly part of our future and having him behind Moore, Savard, Erixson, and CodyG will get him comfortable with them and know what to expect from his defensive mates...
Here's hoping we get to see Yorkie play if we get that Springfield game at NWA. It's always nice to see one of my sponsors play when they're not with the big club.
York has been playing well in Evansville, after the rough start. Probably the switch allow Dainton to avoid getting rusty sitting on the bench and York gets an AHL start.
The Falcons signed Chris Collins to a PTO and re-called Wade MacLeod along with the York move.
The York move I am not a fan of at all. Dainton has played well. I know the whole York is a prospect rhetoric. Dainton impresses me more than York. I miss the days in the AHL when talent mattered more than an AHL deal. The good old days.
York will not be splitting time with McElhinney unless he plays as well as McElhinney.
I hate to say it, but my faith in York is not there at this point. The groin injury scares me, it's occurred 3 times in 1 year, same injury and nothing can be done. A goalie with a susceptible groin is no good.
Hope he can prove me wrong.
As for the Falcons. We're best in the AHL.
2 games this weekend. At Providence, home v.s. St. John's.
Cam Atkinson on pace for 46 goals and 88 points this season. WOW!
81-47-31-78, +15, 273 SOG as a career AHLer. Nice stats.
With the right line mates and primary top line ES and PP time he could be a 40 goal scorer in the NHL. He has a wicked wrister and is very elusive on his skates.

he was on pace for 30 goals in 82 games if i remember right?
What do you guys think of Jake Hansen? He's a friend of mine from high school; it sounds like he's mostly getting 3rd or 4th line minutes which is expected with guys like Atkinson, Johansen, and JAM around. How has he played so far?

I think Hansen, Chaput, Weber, Madaisky and many others will benefit if/when the lockout ends. Right now they are all bidding their time getting used to the pro game (either in AHL or ECHL) and if it ends their number will get called to step up. They will already know the ropes of the league, and could succeed because they know how it goes. I think he can be a 3rd liner in the NHL.

40 goals in the NHL? Damn, I wish. I try to cap my excitement for him, as he is very very small. I know you will mention Marty St.Louis and many other small players, but IDK. I love the story as the underdog and he has tons of heart. He's a good player. I think he does have a very good NHL future as a 2nd liner. But 40 goals? I'd be happy with 20-25.
He was on pace for that his rookie year. I am not going to level set in a downward direction. Meaning I'm not going to be happy to set a lower expectation based on size. The kid certainly has the talent to be a goal scorer in the NHL, I am going to wait to see how that translates over 82 games before I decide what I will be "happy" with.
The reality is that is goal scoring is at the same pace it was at the AHL level last year. His assist total has increased dramatically. That's an interesting development.

Offensively he looks a lot like Cammalleri. Both have very nice shots w quick releases and both just know where and how to score. I think somethin like 25-35 goals 60pts is very realistic his 1st few yrs with 40 being possible after that. Love to see a line with him and Brassard.
The Jackets got 4 guys among top 52 Players in Hockey's Minor Leagues. The whole JAM-Jenner-Cam line plus Murray. Also Erixon and Joey could easiely fit in there.

Seems like they weren't really impressed with marchessault almost as if he can't make it to the NHL or something.

Nope, Cam Atkinson was on pace for 21 goals and 42-43 points last year. Still great considering the team and the fact he was a rookie.
Scored 5 goals and 10 points in his last 6 games. 5 goals and 6 points in his final 2 games. I wouldn't put it past him to get 30-35 goals in his first full NHL season.
