Now i'm not a Van fan, and i'm usually all for the undervaluing of their players but am I missing something with Edler here? I know he is a UFA and had a bad playoff but the way this guy is valued is like he's MA Bergeron or something. This guy is good, one of my fave Canucks, has he stated he doesn't wanna resign or something?
people are assuming that edler won't resign in Van (even though there is no proof of t) so they can get Edler for dirt cheap. Also people are doing the whole Quantity for Quality thing which won't work.

I'd like to add, many posters, including many Canuck fans, think the sky is falling with the new cap/CBA discussions. Brent Burns is my comparable trade, and my projected salary for Edler. Schneider is worth more to me because he's signed to a sweetheart contract for 3 (2 now) years.
A mid range (10-20) starter, at the very least, and a top defender who is UFA after this year, possibly but not likely RFA...other teams are expected to pay, if you think you're paying for a rental, please don't bid, because we don't value him as a rental. You'd be expected to get negotiating rights, so we're not looking at a flight risk here.
the only thing i can think would make sense of an Edler + Schneider trade would be to new jersey, based around Kovalchuk. But theres no way anyone i mentioned will be traded at all.

He demonstrated that he didn't want to re-sign.
The Canucks played him in the playoffs last season despite an injury he is still rehabbing today. I do not have details about the Canuck's room, but they came out flat against Los angeles and did not recover. They seemed to be in disarray. Vignault's three year extension came soon after the season ended, so I am wondering if there was a disconnect between management and players? Gillis stepped right up to support Vignault. Then, Edler failed to sign. Perhaps in the creation of the smoking crater, a few bridges were burned?

What if the cba gets signed and it pushes ufa age up by 1 year.. What would an RFA Edler + Schneider command? What about Voracek + Couturier + 1st + Gustafsson? Too much? Too less??
At this point neither side proposes any changes to UFA age.
Kessel has 9 goals, 15 points in 15 playoff games. Maybe he could help?
I doubt it, he seems like the type that would get pushed into submission over a long run. That and i don't like his pudgy face. Even if im horribly wrong and he's a beast in his next PO appearance, still not worth both Eddie and Schnieds, especially a signed Eddie. 1 of them + legit prospect or pick is what i would imagine if such a trade was made.
I'd rather give up someone like Kassian over Edler. I don't think Kessel merits that much if Edler is signed, and if he's not we'd just be better off keeping him and trading a prospect.
We'll never get the value we want by trading Edler, so I think it's for the best if we keep him.
If the Flyers didn't have Bryz I'd offer something like Simmonds +, probably a 1st since the Flyers don't have too many good prospects. Would Vancouver have any interest in Gustafsson?
I was responding to a poster that said that he wouldn't trade edler straight up for kessel an I strongly beg to differ, I would expect another piece back for both Alex and Cory.

We have enough skilled players, yet our biggest issue is goal scoring in the post season, Kessel has put up good numbers in the playoffs and has a really underrated shot.
he would undoubtably help us in the post season.

I don't get these threads. We simply cannot trade Edler. He's irreplaceable. I realize we have issues scoring in the playoffs, but trading our most dynamic defenseman isn't the answer. Our PP would not work too great without Edler back there.

What if the Leafs would offer Morgan Rielly, Tyler Bozak, and James Reimer? Would you consider that?
Or the Oilers offered: Jordan Eberle +, + ? Would you consider that?
The Canucks now have Garrison to replace Edler. I actually see Edler being traded; he is now a redundant piece, who carries significant value.
