Frankly, he has left me unimpressed since his rookie year. I know, he is young and still has time to turn it around, which he will probably do. But I would have given much more for him 2 years ago.
I believe the correct response for this thread is no. He is one of those players that fans will never agree on a price for him. Sabres will want massive overpayment, and other teams won't want to give up what it would take to pry myers away from buffalo.
Let me preface this by saying that Myers is literally the number one most untouchable player on the Sabres.
That being said, I'm just curious to see how other teams would value him, just curious really.
Could you please clarify two aspects of Myer's play? Does he play with a mean-streak, like a Chara, or Doughty? Plus, is he able to play #1 minutes at a high level? (25+) I know he is 6'8" and has excellent skating and stick skills. I have this impression of him that he is a bit soft, and not able to play #1 minutes.
Nah. Going by last season, sure. Overall, it's a wash.
Subban has an edge to his game that Myers doesn't. Consequently, it's not a wash. The biggest concern in Buffalo is a lack of team toughness. Would Subban allow his goalie to be ran over without some response? He would have dealt with that incident in a way that most likely garnered a suspension. Tyler Seguin, or one of the other skilled Bruins would have payed a high price for Lucic's action. The message would have been sent: "Don't do that, or serious consequences will result."

Don't agree, Subban would for sure jump in if he was on the ice, but he isn't the type to go after a teams top players for revenge.
But in regards to just being more physical, Subban is a lot more physical at 6' compared to Meyers 6'8 frame.

Subban would respond? He's a heck of a player, but a braveheart he is not.

Yeah, this isn't true. The only edgy part to Subban's game compared to Myers is his open ice hitting, a facet Tyler has added to his game in recent years. Both guys are just as willing to work guys over in front of the net/along the boards and use their skating and reach to agitate opponents.
And what did PK do after Chara/Pac merely a season ago? Oh right, nothing. He's also never been suspended, so I really don't see where this mean streak comes into play here.
The actual argument for Subban over Myers is that he has an extra half-season of consistency, ending 2011 on a high note and carrying that play into all of last year, while Myers - likely due to nagging knee injuries - had another rough Fall. Personally, I don't think a combined five seasons is enough to not pick the guy with both the best upside and level of individual performance.
Myers is the last player Buffalo would move. I don't see where we have a desperate enough need to fill a hole on the roster that it would make sense to ship out a 22yo 6'8" defenseman with the skill that Myers has.
We've just gotta play the waiting game with our young centers and hope that they fill that need down the middle.
Subban and Myers are basically on the same level, I would love to have either on our team but Tyler is the homegrown talent so it only makes sense to keep what we have.
Before the draft, I would have taken an established #1C for him. But now with centres filling up our pipeline, I honestly don't know what I would ask for Myers. There is no point in trading away our best defenseman for a stop-gap up front.
