Busy weekend for me - was away the whole weekend in the world's worst place - Long Island, New York. Let me review some of this deeper and I'll have some votes in later today.

I have 6 sets of votes, and a reminder PM was sent to 7 others. Of those 7, I know Mike and Buds are voting, plus I assume Raps is since he sent standings already. Then there's me. So that's going to be at least 10 now.

I also can't imagine Johnny Engine not voting. tarheel too. Those two have been very reliable in the goalie project.

that would leave only hobnobs (who is a co-GM so might not vote for that reason) and chaos (who has been hit-and-miss all draft, so I dunno)

Your guess is right. My grandson missed the middle part of the draft and dont want to vote as he might be as accurate as he could be.

I have one more set of votes coming in (Johnny Engine) and then I'll be releasing the all-star votes and giving TDMM the go-ahead to release the standings too.

Congratulations to the AAA2012 1st team all-stars!

coach: Frank Boucher (PGH)

Jason Pominville (UTA) - Olli Jokinen (BER) - Petr Sykora (REG)
Alex Semin (BIR) - Don Raleigh (MAC) - Earl Robinson (PGH)
Dutch Hiller (UTA) - Laurie Boschman (SJM) - Martin Lapointe (BEL)
Mark Osborne (BER) - Tomas Plekanec (BIR) - Leroy Goldsworthy (FST)

Leo Reise Sr. (REG) - Dan Hamhuis (BUF)
Warren Godfrey (SJM) - Ralph Bowman (PGH)
Kent Douglas (UTA) - Bert Marshall (UTA)

Seth Martin (BUF)
Daren Puppa (PGH)

spares: Steve Rucchin (REG), Reg Hamilton (REG), Dutch Reibel (FST), Keith Brown (PGH)

MVP Voting (most dominant in all-star voting at their position):

1. Seth Martin, BUF (192 pts)
2. Petr Sykora, REG (183 pts)
3. Olli Jokinen, BER (167 pts)
4. Don Raleigh, MAC (150 pts)
5. Leo Reise, REG (146 pts)

note that coaches were eligible for the above, but no coach earned enough points to make the top-5 as there was heavy vote splitting among the top-3.

Also, this does not include bottom 6 players or spares, as it is unrealistic for a 3rd/4th line player to get MVP consideration. here are the top vote-getters among players lower in the lineup:

1. Laurie Boschman, SJM (152 pts)
2. Tomas Plekanec, BIR (139 pts)
3. Bill Clement, REF (132 pts)
4. Travis Zajac, BER (131 pts)
5T. Dutch Hiller, UTA (127 pts)
6. Rudy Migay, UTA (127 pts)

Typical pro-Montreal bias. Zajac > Plekanec

AAA2012 3rd team all-stars (this one is a bit sketchy on D, as only the top-2 were on three ballots, the other four were just on two)

Coach: Darry Sutter (REG)

Vinny Prospal (REG) - Josef Stumpel (PGH) - Dimitri Khristich (REG)
Ted Irvine (SHF) - Billy Harris (FST) - Randy Burridge (UTA)
Ric Seiling (BIR) - David Legwand (SHF) - Bill Collins (REG)

Rod Flett (FST) - Sami Salo (BEL)
Paul Martin (BIR) - Moe Mantha (BUF)
Frank Eddolls (BIR) - Curt Giles (SJM)

Guy Hebert (SJI)
Mike Palmateer (BIR)

spares: Toni Lydman (BIR), Vic Lynn (SJM), Bep Guidolin (PGH), Christian Ruuttu (PGH)

Least Popular Picks:

Since this is a category where you can choose anyone in the entire draft, it's harder for players to accumulate a large number of votes. Here are the ones named 3-5 times, in order of how unpopular they were:

1. Sean Avery (MAC)
2. Anson Carter (MAC)
3. Vladislav Tretiak, Coach (BUF)
4. Roman Cechmanek (UTA)
5. Jonathan Cheechoo (BEL)
6. Martin Erat (BEL)

Seven other players were named twice. 17 more were named once apiece.

I'm not sure in what universe Roman Cechmanek or even Jonathan Cheechoo is a worse pick than Josh Gorges.

notes:

- voting on coaches was incredibly tight. Sutter (3rd team) ended up just 19 points behind Boucher (1st team) but 50 points ahead of 4th place

- On each team, I tried to use the two top spares from voting along with whichever two positional players happened to have the best vote totals who had not yet been included.

- the voting got thin at the bottom for D-men, but at forward, we had centers with 6 votes who didn't get mentioned above, and wingers with 3 votes.

- Amazing how polarizing Cechmanek is. He just about took out Palmateer for the 6th goalie spot, and he's also in the "worst" picks category.

- the seven spares that earned 3-5 votes apiece were included in the all-star teams. Five more earned two votes each, and 17 more earned one.

- Surprised that Jokinen (1st among top-6 centers) creamed Mike Bullard (9th) so badly. I'm cool with Jokinen being considered better, but I still think they should be next to eachother on any list.

- next time I'm going to do voting that is proportional to the number of choices, so instead of 10-10-10-10-10-5-5-5-5, It will be like: 8-12-8-12-18-6-4-8-6. Or something like that. In any case, in case you're wondering, I did see the flaws with asking for 10 top-6 centers, top-6 wingers, and defensemen when there were 24, 48, and 72 of each to choose from. Live and learn.

In case anyone is curious about its correlation to the standings, here is the by-team list of picks on the all-star teams:

REG 4-5-5 (14)
PGH 5-1-4 (10)
UTA 4-4-1 (9)
BIR 2-0-5 (7)
SJM 2-3-2 (7)
BER 2-4-0 (6)
FST 2-1-2 (5)
BUF 2-1-1 (4)
BEL 1-1-2 (4)
SHF 0-2-2 (4)
MAC 1-2-0 (3)
SJI 0-1-1 (2)

42-33 in favour of division 1.

Didnt even see Georges or remember him being picked. Would have probably had him as number one.

Vladislav Tretiak as a poor goalie coach! ...if the worst thing I did in this draft was pick a "poor" goalie coach, I'll take it!

Thanks for doing this, TDMM.

I'm sure Utah is going to wonder how they finished 2nd to Buffalo when they had 10 all-stars to 4. I don't think Birmingham will be happy either! 7 all-stars, but 5th in the division!

Holy cow! I didn't expect that...especially after seeing the All-Star Teams...2 for 2 with division wins all time (MLD, AAA) whoda thunk it...

Outside of that, thanks to the voters and the mods who tabulate all these ballots and what not...these things aren't put together in any short order, that's for sure

Same, sort of weird to see him left off when Jokinen passed Raleigh. Carson's listed twice as well on the second and third teams, do we get another?

I missed about half of the final least favorite choices forgetting they were drafted.
