Yup, each team can have 1-3 balls. If you made the playoffs three times in the past three years, you get 1, two times you get 2, and 1 or no times you get 3.

Blues will have 2 balls, so a pretty good shot considering we are defending division champs. Would be awesome to get a top 5, top 10 even.

Um, by my math, we'd have 3. We only made the playoffs once in the last 3 years, haven't we?

Everyone starts with 3. You lose a ball for every playoff appearance you've made in the last 3 years, or for having the first overall pick in the last 3 years. The Blues lose 1 ball for their 1 playoff appearance, leaving them with 2.

All signs point to Binnington as the third goalie, though. McKenzie called Binnington over Brossoit 'a shock'.

He will probably get at least one game. I bet Subban gets the first shot though.

Laurent Brossoit, Edmonton Oil Kings ... 21 GP, 1252 min, 577 SA, 57 GA, 0 SO, 2.73 GAA, 0.901 save %, 12-4-2-3

Jordan Binnington, Owen Sound Attack ... 26 GP, 1561 min, 852 SA, 60 GA, 3 SO, 2.31 GAA, 0.930 save %, 17-6-1-2

Yeah, it's a "shock" that Binnington made it over a guy with those numbers.

Typical hockey media dismissal of Blues' prospects. I'm sure they're sticking to the "Rattie was just riding Bärtschi's coattails" meme, too...

No, he said it was, along with Wotherspoon over Corrado, a "hard call," and then mentioned that there were "no other shocks." What he clearly meant was that there were no shocks/controversy, not that the hard calls were shocks.

Is it just me, or is Schwartz being doubted as a top prospect more and more at this time on this fan site and across the entire board?

People look at overall stat lines, but over his last ten or so games it seems he's back to normal.

So does that mean if you made the playoffs every year the last 3 years, you get no balls?

I don't doubt his high level potential, I simply think that he is by far the best option to trade for the Blues to acquire a long term top flight defensive partner for Pietrangelo with minimal damage to the franchise in the short term. For all the talk about "partner for Petro" being an overstated problem, everyone claiming that we have to have Schwartz to eventually replace McDonald is 5 times less essential. If McDonald goes out this year, we are fine, if Petro goes down, we are screwed.

Everyone must have 1 ball. I probably should've mentioned that lol.

Great to see Tremblay had a good week. You can't have too many good goaltending prospects.

IMO hes more of a project that many Blues fans admit. Skill is certainly there, but you need more than that to survive in the NHL. He definitely shouldnt have been a Top 10 guy like he was on HFs list, TSN just put him at 29 which seems more accurate.

I missed that. Got a link? I'd love to read it. Going crazy without hockey. The last lockout is what got me into prospects in the first place.

How come Peoria's players' stats aren't here? They are Blues' prospects, too (until they've played 65 games in The NHL or become 27 years old). That means that even Cole and Schwartz are still prospects, and only Woywitka and maybe one or two others are not. Is it because you know it's easy for us to just look at The Rivermen's website?

I always figured it was because the Rivermen had their own thread. But you do raise a legitamite point about players like Cole and Schwartz not being listed despite being two of the Blues top prospects currently.

Not much to read, just a list. Tarasenko at 3. A little Canadian team bias. Rielly ahead of Yakupov?

That list is HORRENDOUS. I know people have fallen in love with Schultz since he's played well in the AHL, but there's no chance he's a better prospect than Yakupov, Reilly, Tarasenko, Kuznetsov, Hamilton, Granlund etc. Malcom Subban at 15???!!!!???? Brett Ritchie above Hamilton and Granlund? Good lord the Canadian bias is ridiculous. I realize that Hamilton is Canadian, but he is Bruins property. That apparently makes him less of a prospect than the Demi-God Justin Schultz.

Partly, and also like BMD mentioned there's already a thread for the Rivermen. Originally, I was just going to do College and Junior level prospects. Then someone mentioned our Euro guys...so I added them(despite them being pro level). But I guess now that we've gone this far it would make good sense to add our AHL pro level NA guys as well. Suggestion noted sir.

Thanks! I just think it will be nice to compare how they are ALL doing in one viewing.

I agree, especially now that our AHL guys have started really gelling and producing. It will for sure be nice to compare them. I know it's way early, but I'm really excited with what next season's possible roster could look like in Peoria. With who they already have in place, and then possibly guys like Rattie, Jaskin, Edmundson, and Binnington et cetera coming into the mix...the future is looking bright!
