So the NHL responds.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Not 100 percent, but it's likely NHL will cancel more games before end of the week

https://twitter.com/Real_ESPNLeBrun/...65000939274241

That seems to be a point worth noticing.

I dunno, I just get the feeling that the owners are done talking to the Fehr boys.

I think it's more like our best offer is on the table. Take it of leave it.

This speaks to the rumor I had mentioned earlier. If indeed the NHLPA gets the NHL back to the neg table we might see a deal happen. That would be very interesting to me.
Again, this means absolutely nothing unless the PA is ready to return and either offer up something different or accept the terms put in place by the NHL....judging from the past month, I don't see that happening. If the NHLPA is ready to return in the hopes that the NHL is going to offer up something different, it's the same old ****.

Here's how I see it....IF we get a season, it's not going to be until Bettman puts down a drop-dead date that this CBA needs to be agreed upon. Once that happens, then and only then...and it will go to the 11th hour, will we get a deal done.

I agree with you on all counts. I will add that it appears that the NHLPA seems ready or are at least saying that they are ready as they have been to negotiate. I still think that the NHLPA will decertify and in doing so be able to go after the NHL on charges of collusion. Where that will go is anybody's guess but that is the road I see us all going down unless a hail mary happens.

The players agents and trainers seem to be saying this more and more as the days go by.

Any court battle's could take years.

Cant both sides lock up stuff in court forever ?

I don't know why people think going to court is some sort of Threat ....

both sides have top notch lawyers.

You are right, it could lock things up for years but then knowing this which everyone involved does why would anyone actually risk it? Who benefits from a lock out that could last for years? IF it is allowed to go to the courts AND that causes things to fall apart to the point where the lawyers lock it up in court for years then that will effectively end the NHL as we know it.

So, it could all be to the benefit of everyone involved to stop that from happening and as such force a deal to be completed.

This is in line with what I have been hearing so I believe its right on the money.

In his latest blog Renaud Lavoie says that the players had 3 options on their voting ballot:

1) Keep negociating
2) Take that league offer with 300 M in make whole
3) Go to court and risk it all

http://legrandclub.rds.ca/profils/60.../151827/public

Even Steven Steven Harper has weighed in on how dangerous a lengthy lockout could be disastrous to Canada's economy.

A PM who knows where his bread is buttered.

Well, if you believe in Pierre LeBrun, it sounds like you all can take my word on the latest CBA info since he seems to be saying exactly what I did a few hours ago:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/i...-other-to-move

And on another note, at least I offer you solid links that are actually in English.

I post one link in french.......

What he has said doesn't change the fact that IF everyone allows this to go down the rabbit hole and the courts decide things then it could cost the NHL the NHL and nobody will let that happen.

IF the decertification vote goes through (which is likely if it is decided to get down to it) I think it will only see things resolved more quickly then less.

Oh and I posted this very thread earlier but its always good to have another look at it.

Here is a neat part.

"In the meantime, you can expect more games to get canceled by the end of this week"

Overall you and I are saying very similar things.

Isn't that interesting.

Video link:

http://www.rds.ca/zone

At the 3:00 mark of that video (which is 7:26 long)...

Bergeron talking about the potential of a "Done Deal" and the NHL season to start with a target date of Jan 1st for having people back at their teams and a start date of 1/10/13. Not the 11th like I had heard but the tenth.

Remember this is just another persons opinion but the guy is somewhat respectable as a former coach/player of note and he has had some success in this arena in the past.

Well, Evander Kane picked the perfect time to tweet himself having a serious discussion on the struggles and needs of the NHLPA...

https://twitter.com/EKane9JETS/statu...34073878773760

They are lucky fan opinion doesn't matter, as stuff like this isn't helping.

So disappointing that these millionaires and billionaires cannot come to an agreement so we have to wait another 10 months for our hockey fix =/

I hope Evander Kane is smart enough to be saving some of that for a rainy day.

Le sigh, do these guys understand that when they do things like this it makes them look bad, and undermines their position?

Like Derek Roy tweeting out that they just want a fair deal..following a tweet of a picture of his ferrari and how "It's so loud it sets off the alarms of other cars in the parking garage."

They have enough money to be able to afford to not take money from the owners right now, and potentially drag this out for who knows how long. The players on teams that lose money still get, or got, their paychecks. They have no reason to care what it makes them look like.

They also hired Donald Fehr on purpose, so they never cared what it made them look like.

No wonder the NHL owners have to the stick it to them attitude(way to go Kane).

At least the NBA players didn't cry poor. They simply just called owners lairs about losing money.

They never cried about not making a lot of money.

So on to happier things

With the "unofficial" word being that the vote went as expected (PA in favor of decertification) we will see just how much of an impact it has on things. Here is the rabbit hole darkened deep and threatening, follow me follow me and I will show you wonderous things.

If everything goes the way the PA and several pundits think we will never know and the deal will be set. If not its boom crash dynamite for the league which will never be allowed to happen.

If the NHL cancels the season the NHLPA will officially decertify.

The players support the DOI and the Decertification and will decide which avenue they will persue unless the NHL/Owners will sit down again and amend/negotiate their last and final offer.....again.

All 3 items mentioned before pass.

I remain optimistic.

Allegedly.

Not that I'm going to complain if hockey returns, but remembering the locked out 1994-95 season brings back a lot of bad memories of the Kings that season. A bunch of old farts who came to camp out of playing shape, the Zhitnik trade for Grant Fuhr, trading a fan favorite in Warren Rychel for Randy Burridge. So many things went wrong that season. Then again I'm not too concerned with this team, but I'm keeping in mind that there can be a lot of twists in a shortened 48 game schedule.
