If the Angels do trade Wells I'd have to imagine that they'd be paying at least half of his salary. Otherwise the other GM is a moron.
If they want to trade Vernon Wells they are gonna have to eat alot more than half his salary. he isnt worth even close to 10.5M a year at this point. 3-4 tops.

Half would be a steal for LAA.
I'd say it would have to be something like 15 M of his 21 M per year that LAAAAAAA has to pay at the very least.
As for Bourn, I have zero idea who is a fit for him at this point. All the teams that seemed like suitors found CF's. Minnesota may need one, but they are rebuilding anyway.
There is absolutely no need for Bourn when we have Ichiro and Gardner. I much prefer the power bat in Granderson than a slap hitter like Bourn.
Ichiro won't be around for ever. Or past next year. Gotta look a little bit more long term. I don't see this old man platoon OF thing being a good strategy. With Bourn and Gardener in the OF you wouldn't even need a 3rd outfielder I think you have to trade Granderson while he has high value and can bring you back some good pitching. His next contract is gonna be monsterous. Bourn will play better D, steal more bags and get on base more for less money.

Problem is Bourn increases their 2014 salary commitments, which is the opposite of what they're trying to do.

I thought it was just this season they were trying to keep down? I mean, either way the 2014 salary is going to have to go up form this year if the Yankees want to continue to be competitive. Will need an upgrade at catcher. Cano will cost more money and unless they are just planning on letting Granderson walk after his contract is up they will need to pay someone to play center field.
Bourn has been linked to the Cubs for a while for some weird reason. The only way he makes sense is on a 1 year deal with a team option for 2014 that vests if traded, with the intention to do so. All together, it still makes no sense.

I like Bourn a lot, but the Yankees are already subtracting some 40 homeruns from their lineup by losing Swisher, and A-Rod for much of the season. They need Granderson's big bat.
Bourn in, Granderson out would be horrendous for the Yankees. If the Yankees are going to spend on an outfielder, which they aren't, Swisher would make way more sense. He's a.) better than Bourn now, b.) going to age better than Bourn, and c.) a better fit for New York's current lineup.
My darkhorse for Bourn: WhiteSox. They move Rios at RF, put Viciedo/ Wise/ Aza at LF and put Bourn at his best. One of Viciedo/ De Aza should go. Wise is good option just for 4th OF. Danks need some more time.
I guess for RIGHT NOW Swisher and or Granderson are better for the Yanks but I believe Bourn to be a better long term fit. I guess the Yankess are always in win now mode so you have to consider that. For some reason I thought Bourn got on base a lot more than he did. OBP is a little lower than what I expected. Just figure the Yanks will need to do something for the future for their OF and starting pitching. Thought this could save some problems. FA market isn't super deep in upcoming years and I don't know what tradable commodities the Yankees have to replenish when Ichiro, Pettite, Mo and Kuroda retire which will be soon.
Question about Spring Training: Since there are now 15 teams in each league (odd number), how do they still manage to schedule all teams to play on most days? LA, Cleveland, and Cincinnati joined the Cactus League in 2009, so it used to be 18 teams to 12 in favor of the Grapefruit League.

There will be interleague play every day this season if I remember correctly.

Nah man, I'm talking about Spring Training. There are 15 teams in each league (Grapefruit in Florida and Cactus in Arizona). So if you have 7 games going on at the same time in each league, that means one team is left behind without an opponent. So it's not like the team without an opponent will play the team in the other league that also doesn't have an opponent.

Sox aren't spending $$$ this offseason ,, Doubt they go after Bourn at this point unless something changes (Like Floyd and his salary being traded)
