I'm sure the Nordiques will be looking to throw some money around during Free Agency, so I wouldn't expect a roster player is totally necessary in return. I know Phoenix management was really, really high on Gaunce at the draft, but I'm not sure that'd matter much in this scenario. Obviously Jensen would be tremendously appealing, but I can't believe Vancouver would part with him, at this point.

Also, the deal could potentially be expanded to include guys like David Rundblad, Connor Murphy, Max Goncharov, David Schlemko, Chris Summers, Mike Stone, etc. Looks like you guys are prospect deep on F and we are prospect deep on D. Could make some sense.

Something simple like picks could also work, I suppose.
I wouldn't mind dealing Gaunce, but Kassian and Jensen I'd be reluctant to give up. Rundblad/Stone might make sense as we could use some prospect depth at RD, but I don't know if trading for Doan would include a prospect swap as well. Right now our roster is pretty much set at D though, so unless Ballard is included I don't see us having room for NHL-ready D prospects.

The key thing for us is fitting under the cap, so if forwards are more needed, then maybe Raymond, Malhotra, Gaunce, and cond. 1st in 2014 if we make the finals in the next two years? I'd be okay with somehing like that too.

Murphy is a RHD. He's further from NHL ready than the other guys mentioned. I could see Quebec taking some salary back as they are buying a roster with the fewest committed dollars in the NHL, but they are likely to make buckets and buckets of money. That said, roster spots are bound to become at least slightly limited, given that they'll probably look to make a splash or two. I suppose there are just too many factors, here. When does Phoenix get sold for relo? Is there a season? Etc.

Any interest in Eric Fehr in UFA. I thought gillis was a fan.

Serious question here guys, how would you react if management pulled the trigger on a deal that would send us a guy like Crosby/Malkin/Weber/Chara someone that would put us over the top and make us the clear cut favorites to win the cup but at the same time completely destroy our future (I'm talking about trading almost all of Kassian, Jensen, Schneider, Gaunce, early draft picks)?

Would the 5+ years in the basement be worth it for a greater chance at winning the cup?

We don't have nearly enough assets to acquire even Malkin or Crosby alone.

Depends. Crosby? Sure. Chara? No, he's too old.

I think we can continue to be competitive by signing UFAs and drafting on pure talent in the later rounds to help bolster the team on the occassional chance they work out.

In order for that to happen you have to actually:

1.) keep your draft picks
2.) Trade surplus players for picks whenever possible
3.) Hire better scouts
4.) Hire better developmental coaches in the AHL
5.) Have a head coach willing to suffer through some pain in development

Final prediction for the Luongo deal: Kadri + Bozak + 1st (could be conditional or protected) for Luongo.

Through the multiple variations based all speculation, I've settled at this return. This is the deal IMO. The Canucks have the depth on D, so I don't think they will hold firm on adding a D prospect there. But the forwards will be emphasized. Bozak and Kadri give them two options at C, while getting a 1st will give them something to play with at the deadline, should they go after Perry/Ryan or something else.

That's the deal, on record, open for ridicule should we get back Komisarek and a 2nd.

To Toronto: Luongo

To Vancouver: Tyler Bozak, Tyler Biggs, 2nd

We get a 3rd liner/good roster player. A good forward prospect to add to our pool and a 2nd in a deep draft. Toronto doesn't give up any major pieces.

You think Toronto would accept?

If Burke doesn't do this, he gets fired. If Gillis proposes it, he gets fired.

I'm not so sure of either getting canned for a trade like this, for all intents and purposes, Lou has to be moved now. The new CBA will either help or curtail this process, difficult to find a dance partner regardless. Perhaps the second could be changed to a first if Bozak is the roster player...I like some of what I heard about Biggs...though I have not heard too much.

I didn't think it was that bad, we only have so much wiggle room in this negotiation and if we lose and entire season I can't see our return being drasticly better for a 34 year old Lu.

Anyways I got another one.

To Vancouver: Derrick Brassard

To Toronto: Mason Raymond, Anton Rodin

Basicly a swap of 2 players who have disapointed, Raymond's value while not being that high is probably better around the league than most canuck fans think.

Brassard has decent size, decent speed, and is a good two way player. A pass first guy who could either be the 2nd line winger solution or center on the 3rd.

Rodin adds a bit more to sweeten the deal, I'ma fan but I think he would be better served career wise in Columbus. And for the Jackets with the additions of Anisimiov and Dubinsky they will have enough centers (Along with Johansen, and even Prospal & Umberger who can both play center) to fill the spot left by Brassard.

Is it Fair?

Trade Proposals

I didn't see one of these so I made one for you (feel free to merge if there is one mods)

But anyways, a lot of talk on the Sens board about Edler and Ballard. What is each (alone not together) worth to you? What would you want back

I'd do Smith for Ballard.

Edler you won't like what we want back, I'll tell you that.

Everyone wants Condra gone in Ottawa, I don't see much value in him, at least Ballard is a Top-6 defensemen on one of the best teams in the league, that "+" better be good.

3rd round pick?

And Condra isn't bad, just expendable considering who else we have in our bottom 6, and our forward prospects

We get Perry and Ryan without giving up one of Edler, Jensen or Kassian. Give MG a raise if he could pull that off.
