Then your expectations were out of whack.

The KHL is a very tough league despite what you think.

You are correct. The KHL is nothing to F with. They are right behind the NHL (0.83 difficulty rating vs the NHL's 1.0)

Points are accrued differently in different leagues. A good system and solid team play goes a long way towards producing points consistently, regardless of the league. The NHL happens to be the best league in the world at those things, so some players would produce better in that league as opposed to others where they literally have to do almost everything themselves.

I know some of the Oilers young guns said they found the NHL easier to play in than the AHL in some aspects because it was more system-oriented and you could rely on your teammates more in terms of positioning and controlling the flow of play.

Semi un-related: in the few KHL games I watched, I found the the rate of play fairly lackadaisical at most points.

Hatty for Geno in 5-3 win over Atlant (with an empty netter). And 1 assist as well.

Last game Malkin 3 + 1, Mozyakin 1+2, Kulemin 0+1

1. Mozyakin 51 = 21g+30a GP 32
2. Malkin 46 = 16+30 GP 30
3. Radulov 42 = 17+25 GP 33

Classic Malkin playing 2nd fiddle. goes to russia and he's still not the best player on his own team

Doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but...I'd really like to see Malkin take that KHL scoring title.

Suck it, Mozyakin.

Took a bit longer than I predicted but Malkin's now left Radulov in his dust. Mozyakin is no slouch either, he has proven to be one of the top two scoring treats in the KHL's short history(3 points behind Radulov in career points right now). Even still there's no doubt Malkin's presence and the attention that he gets has allowed Mozyakin to become even more productive this year. If he were to maintain his current pace he would set a new league records in points and ppg at 1.59 and Malkin would have the second highest single season ppg at 1.53

Thing is I doubt Mozyakin can maintain that pace. As for Malkin, well we all know what he did in the second half of the season last year...

64pt in 40gm 1.6ppg for those who don't remember
oh and he also happened to outscore Stamkos in the second half 33 to 31

I was watching it on my TV and Malkin was absolutely unstoppable in that game, that was just crazy. That 2nd goal was sick. He had some other spectacular actions which didn´t end up in goals but that was really fun to watch.

That or, it's definitive proof that the best player on a team is not always the player with the highest number of points.

crazy game. MMg was trailing 2:3 and in a last two minutes scored 3 goals.
Mozyakin 0+2, Malkin 1+1

Kulemin looks pretty sick with Geno - another 2 goals and 13+14 in 30 games. Pens should try to get him last season when he didn't look that great... Yeah, I know, the team just doesn't have pieces Toronto would be interested in...

I would love to see Malkin win the KHL scoring title. Does he have a shot at Radulov's 80 point season? How many games are left for Malkin's team this season?
