Just an FYI from an article today:

Sieloff and Trouba were a dominant shut down pair at the most recent World Under-18 Championship, for a team that allowed only four goals the *entire tournament*. The nastiness each brings to the table is what makes them really interesting together, so long as they are able to pick their spots for the big hit. They did that incredibly well together at the U18s and it paid off in a big way.

Sieloff has underrated mobility and really strong defensive awareness, too. He seems like a good fit and is probably the only true shut-down defenseman on the left side. That vastly increases his chances.

So I am not sure if they will use Sieloff in a shut down roll with trouba on the 2nd unit but the US has a good D core so It depends if they want to use Jacob in a shut down roll or more balanced? the nice thing about using uphill shut down is he would be dangerous on the counter against teams that overcommit on the attack.

Yea, yea first exhibition game tomorrow. 8:30am CST iirc.

Is Scheifele still set to line up with RNH and Huberdeau on the top line??

Sounds like Huberdeau is sitting the first exhibition game, so it's Rattie/RNH/Scheifele on the first line.

Hubs is serving his last game suspension. Rattie is taking his spot on the first line for the first exhibition game and Lipon is getting bumped to the third line iirc.

So first line will be Rattie RNH Scheifele for the first exhibition game.

Edit: Damn you Bob E! Beat me to it

On the Rona rondtable a day or two ago , they mentioned it was announced That Trouba and Jones would be paired together. Not sure if accurate but it was reported fwiw.

Here's hoping Scheif has put on some serious muscle this off-season. That is one serious looking D-corp right there.

Damn you Chevy, drafting a D-man who's only 6'2!

Yea I really am this year more than any before.

I was trying to figure out why I am so pumped "this year" and this is my list of reason:

1) NO NHL means I am jonesing more than usual

2) We got the NHL back so we have skin in the game with Scheif and now Trouba

3) I am in a draft So I have been forced to learn more about all the teams and players

4) We get a real look at a bunch of prospects for the (hopefully) upcoming draft where we are loaded with picks

So get the PVR ready and here we go!!!!!

The firzt PP unit looks pretty good so far. Neither team has any sustained pressure so far.

Damn, Finland looks really good. An exhibition game, mind you, but good nonetheless.

The defence is not really helping out the cause. Poor overall defensive play by Canada. Finland has played really well so far.

Two 5 on 3 pp goals don't exactly help.

way too many penalties. those two ppgs by fin on a 5 on 3 didn't help canada out much but not too worried for canada as this is just an exhibition game. just need to get use to the rules i'm thinking. hopefully....
